SUCCESS STORY

Greece continues to attract the strongest names in the international hotel market and 2010 marks the opening of a number of properties that will carry global brand names.

Hilton
In an agreement with Greece’s AktiHelona SA, Hilton Worldwide announced the operation of the Doubletree Hotel complex on the eastern Aegean island of Kos.

The hotel is scheduled to begin operations in May 2010. Patrick Fitzgibbon, Hilton Worldwide's Vice President of development for Europe and Africa, said: "Hilton Worldwide continues the exciting expansion of its hotels in Europe.

Greece has strong tourism infrastructure and Kos is the second most popular island in the Dodecanese. The Greek hotel market is characterised by independent privately owned hotels and domestic hotel chains, although we believe that there are significant growth opportunities for all of our brands throughout the country."

Hilton Worldwide already operates the five-star Athens Hilton.

Sheraton
In the spring of 2010, the Sheraton Rhodes Resort will open its doors, the first hotel of the Sheraton chain in Greece. It is the eighth property in Greece of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. The hotel is located in the island of Rhodes, just a few kilometres from the historical town center. The recently renovated Sheraton Rhodes Resort has 401 rooms. The entry of the Sheraton chain will signify the expansion of Starwood to Greece, where it already manages seven Luxury Collection hotels and one Westin hotel.  "Rhodes is a fascinating destination and we are enthusiastic to bring Sheraton, our most emblematic chain, in this significant tourist destination" stated Mr. Roeland Vos, President of Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. "We are especially pleased that we will cooperate with Tourist Resorts S.A. as we will be adding another unique resort in Starwood’s portfolio of luxury hotels."

Sheraton Rhodes Resort will offer three choices of restaurants, a full service spa, fitness services, and a private beach. The 44 suites include two super luxurious suites with three bedrooms, and also family rooms with open air spaces and kitchenettes. The resort will offer a wide selection of sports activities, children’s facilities, one indoor and three outdoor swimming pools. For business clients and social events,  Sheraton Rhodes Resort can accommodate 1000 people, has many meeting and break-out areas, full audio video technology, and wireless internet.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has also signed an agreement with TEMES S.A., to operate two new luxury resort hotels in Greece: Westin Resort Costa Navarino and The Romanos, A Luxury Collection Resort.  Both properties are located in Costa Navarino in the region of Messinia in southwest Peloponnese.Costa Navarino is a new high-end tourism destination in the Mediterranean.

The Romanos, A Luxury Collection Resort will offer 321 beautifully appointed rooms and suites with 142 private infinity pools in addition to an extensive common pool area. Guests will choose among four different dining venues and bars, where ethnic and traditional cuisine based on local organic ingredients will give new meaning to dining.

The Westin Resort Costa Navarino will offer 445 deluxe rooms and suites with 123 private infinity pools in addition to an extensive common pool area. Four distinct restaurants and various pool, lounge and chill-out bars, each with different views of the landscape, will provide an inviting range of international and local cuisines.

Hotel guests will be able to enjoy a 3,300 m2 Spa and Thalassotherapy Center located within the resort complex. The Spa will offer a full range of specialty treatments based on Asian and Ancient Greek philosophy, utilizing the area’s unique natural products and elements, as well as athletic facilities and extensive heat experiences with an indoor pool.  Children of all ages will experience outstanding entertainment facilities unique to the Mediterranean.

A state-of-the-art conference center will be able to accommodate up to 2,000 delegates.  A village center will provide an open air theater, exclusive shopping as well as signature restaurants and bars.
