Greece Shines in Condé Nast Awards

The Greek Islands and Costa Navarino were chosen by Condé Nast readers as favourites in this years Traveller Readers’ Travel Awards.

The Greek Islands
The readers of Condé Nast Traveller selected the Greek Islands as the best island experience in world, beating out other global destinations such as Zanzibar, Seychelles, Phuket, Bali, and Barbados.

Costa Navarino

The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort at Costa Navarino, has been awarded ‘Favourite Overseas Leisure Hotel:  Europe, Asia Minor and the Russian Federation’ at the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Awards 2011. It is the first Greek hotel to win this award since they were established by Condé Nast Traveller in 1998.
Costa Navarino was launched in May 2010.

Voted by readers of Condé Nast Traveller, the magazine’s annual awards recognise the very best that world travel has to offer and are seen as one of the most important measures of excellence in the industry.

Greece was well recognised in this year's awards with its islands coming top in the Islands category. The Greek Islands and The Romanos, Costa Navarino, also won third and fourth places respectively in The World’s Top 100 list of experiences.

Costa Navarino Launches The Bay Course
Costa Navarino launched its second signature golf course, The Bay Course, designed by legendary architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., in October.

Along with The Dunes Course, designed by Bernhard Langer and located just a few minutes away, visitors can enjoy unrivalled course conditions and spectacular views all year-round.  The Bay Course, overlooking the historic bay of Navarino and the town of Pylos, joins a long list of world-class facilities, including the two 5-star Starwood-managed hotels, The Romanos and The Westin Resorts, and a wide range of other activities at Costa Navarino.

Robert Trent Jones Jr., the world renowned golf course designer heading a company that delivers state-of-the-art, sustainable golf course projects, has commented: "The Bay Course is sculpted out of the earth and rock of Greek soil, much like the marble statues of the ancients. Those deities were noble and graceful, and the golf course now reflects the same sense of beauty. This golf experience will last the test of time, to be loved and enjoyed through all the senses by those who come to play the golf course."

Troon Golf, the world’s largest luxury-brand golf management, development and marketing company, is managing both courses at Costa Navarino.

Both courses are located in Messinia, an area that enjoys an excellent climate, blessed with balmy summers, mild winters and overall pleasant temperatures, making it ideal for golf visitors throughout the year. As with The Dunes Course, strict environmental protection guidelines have been applied to The Bay Course, in order to achieve sustainable golf-course management.

Navarino Bay, the second area in Costa Navarino and home to The Bay Course, will be the world’s first earth sheltered mixed-use resort, featuring the first all-pool-villa resort in Europe.
