Regional Axis
Diplomatic Mission to Epirus

ELKE, in cooperation with the Region of Epirus, organised a four-day programme in Ioannina to promote the investment opportunities in Epirus. The event, held within the framework of ELKE’s “Promoting Regional Greece” Programme, was completed with a strong interest from all involved.

Thirty three Ambassadors, Economic Counselors, and Commercial Attaches from foreign Embassies in Greece accepted ELKE’s invitation and participated in the delegation.

During day one the programme included a conference on investment potential. Local authorities, representatives of institutional bodies, technocrats, and businesspeople discussed investment opportunities in the Epirus region and prospects for the Prefectures’ development in light of today’s market environment. The speakers commended ELKE’s role and its efforts to reinforce the outward nature of Greece’s regions and to attract foreign business partners.

Days two and three included business meetings of the foreign diplomats with 40 Epirot businesspeople. The meetings generated significant investment interest in the region. The participants also made on site tours to VIKOS SA., DODONI SA., PINDOS SA., SPIDER SA and the Science and Technology Park of Epirus.

Referring to the ELKE initiative, Dr. Dimitrios Pazaitis, ELKE CEO, said: “With the “Promoting Regional Greece” Programme, ELKE is contributing to and reinforcing the region’s outward looking nature, and is in turn implementing the outward looking policy of Greece and its economy, that seeks cross-border, trans-Atlantic, and global economic relationships.”  He also said “we are actively engaging the global investment market, promoting Greece’s highly attractive sectors and many opportunities” and “we are placing an emphasis on specific regional sectors, on specific investment products that have competitive advantages.” In his concluding remarks he noted, “Epirus is evolving into a transportation hub and gateway for linking the economic and business activities of the European Union with all Southeast and East Mediterranean countries.”

Mrs. Bogna Abramowicz, President of the Club of Economic and Commercial Attaches in Greece, and Head of Trade and Investment Promotion Department of the Embassy of Poland, praised ELKE’s initiative and her long cooperation, saying that she is “participating for the fourth consecutive time in ELKE’s successful initiatives” and expressed the wish to have “the successful cooperation and common actions continue.”

The delegation of Economic and Commercial Attaches included representatives of foreign Embassies from the following countries: China, USA, Germany, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Romania, Hungary, India, Iraq, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Syria, Croatia, Lithuania, Kuwait, Uruguay, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Russia, Norway, Jordan, France, Estonia, Egypt, Mexico, Brazil, Taipei and Cyprus.
