Cultural Inspiration, Business Innovation
Greece welcomes the prestigious distinction of participating in the China International Import Expo 2019 as one of the honored guest countries. In appreciation of this distinguished recognition, the Greek Pavilion for CIIE 2019 is especially designed to offer rewarding experiences to the Chinese business community and visitors under the theme, ‘Greece. a Culture to Share’ Since antiquity, Greece is known as an open society where ideas flourish and dialogue is the basis for communication. Today, Greece ushers in new era of openness pledging to forward this legacy of interaction by creating new opportunities for Greek-Chinese business partnerships and cultural exchange. The Greek Pavilion expresses our country’s ‘spirit of sharing’ and willingness to cooperate with China in strategic areas of the economy.
New Era. Dynamic relations with China
The strong, Greek- China, mutually beneficial relationship is continuously re-enforced as the countries collaborate towards achieving global impact. At a bilateral level, our countries have concluded a three-year cooperation plan for 2020-2022 in the areas of transport, energy, telecommunications, financial services, manufacturing and research and technology. At a multinational level, Greece also participates in the ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ (BRI) development strategy, announced in 2013 by Chinese President Xi Jinping, aimed at creating the economic zone of the Silk Road of the 21st Century. Toward this goal, the Initiative 17+1 was established and Greece became a full member in April 2019. The close cooperation between the countries is underlined by the visit of Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis to the CIIE Exhibition in Shanghai, 04-06/11/2019 and the official visit of the Chinese President, Xi Jinping to Athens, 10-12/11/2019.
