Greek fashion industry presence at HOMI Fashion & Jewels and MICAM Milano exhibitions

Athens, 28 September 2022 – Cutting-edge Greek fashion was on display with a significant presence at this month’s international jewelry, accessories and footwear exhibitions HOMI Fashion & Jewels and MICAM Milano that were held in Milan, Italy.

The two events, which ran concurrently from September 16 to 20, included more than two dozen leading Greek companies and designers who drew a large number of visitors, underscoring the prospects and popularity of Greek fashion on the world stage. The national delegation was organized by Enterprise Greece, which supported the Greek exhibitors financially and through its broader efforts to promote Greece’s creative industries.

At this year’s ΗOMI Fashion & Jewels event, 17 Greek enterprises participated, showcasing their products and designs over 228 square meters of exhibition space. At MICAM Milano, 11 Greek footwear companies were present.

Enterprise Greece was represented by Executive Director and Member of the Board Betty Alexandropoulou who reviewed the Greek stands and engaged with industry representatives participating in the two exhibitions. Also attending the exhibitions was the Milan General Counsel for Economic Affairs at the Greek Embassy in Italy, Paraskevi Kambouroglou.

In remarks, Ms. Alexandropoulou noted that: “Enterprise Greece aims to support all of the country’s multi-faceted export sectors, such as the fashion industry (clothing-footwear-jewelry). The national participation in the international exhibitions HOMI Fashion & Jewels 2022 and MICAM 2022 that were held in Milan with the participation of 28 Greek companies, showcased the dynamics of the sector, encouraging its exceptionally bright prospects. Greek design is gaining an ever greater share of the global market and is benefitting from the support of Enterprise Greece with its enhanced and innovative promotion, networking and support efforts on behalf of export-oriented businesses in the sector.”

In separate remarks, Ms. Kabouroglou said: “The fashion industry, and in particular accessories, jewelry and footwear, continue to grow worldwide. Following the impact of the 2020 pandemic (-14.8%), the accessories and jewelry sector recorded a significant recovery of +25.3% and reached €44 billion. The participation of seventeen 17 Greek fashion and jewelry manufacturers in the international trade fair HOMI Fashion & Jewels and 11 shoe manufacturers in MICAM, thanks to the financial support of Enterprise Greece, is an important step towards extroversion for the exporting companies of our country. In terms of participation and attendance, the exhibitions have returned to pre-Covid levels with 33,000 visitors attending and participation of 425 and 1,012 exhibitors respectively.”
