The Big 5 Construct Egypt 2019

Athens, 11 September 2019 | Greece participated — as an honored country — in this month’s The Big 5 Construct Egypt exhibition reflecting the growing commercial ties between Greece and Egypt. The Enterprise Greece-led delegation included leading Greek companies who in engaged in dozens of commercial meetings with top Egyptian business groups.
The exhibition, where Greece has participated for the second time, was held from 2 to 4 September 2019 at the newly built Cairo International Exhibition Center. Greece was designated as a “Country Partner” by the organizers of the exhibition.
Enterprise Greece, working in collaboration with the Greek Embassy’s Office of Economic and Trade Affairs in Cairo, helped arrange 60 targeted meetings between representatives of Greek companies and representatives of 18 Egyptian business groups. Representatives of major construction companies, operating both in Egypt and in the wider region, along with architects, engineers and major importers, also visited the Greek pavilion during the exhibition.
The Greek delegation included ten (10) Greek companies — eight traveling from Greece and two via their representatives in Egypt — who produce refractory materials, insulation materials & paints, plastic & metal irrigation materials, water management systems, integrated aluminum systems, steel structures, as well as other products.
Representing the Egyptian Prime Minister’s office, Mr. Assem El Gazzar, Minister of Housing attended the official opening of the exhibition and visited the Greek pavilion, where he was introduced to Greek business representatives by the Greek Embassy’s Economic and Commercial Affairs Advisor in Cairo, Mr. Pantelis Gassios. The Minister reviewed the high quality of Greek construction materials and highlighted the prospects for increased cooperation between companies of the two countries.
The President and Managing Director of TEMAK SA, Mr. Herodis Mitsopoulos, who participated in the Greek pavilion, remarked: “given that Egypt is showing some of the fastest growth rates in the construction sector, we consider the presence of Greek companies a necessary part of their efforts to make further inroads in the international market.”
ALUMINCO S.A Technical Director Nikolaos Mykoniatis said: “Egypt is booming and offers enormous openings and important business contacts.”
In total, the exhibition featured 240 large companies from 20 countries around the world, including Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Jordan, Korea, Oman, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and of course, Greece, Cyprus and Egypt.
