Enterprise Greece at WindEurope 2025

With over 5 GW of additional installed wind RES capacity,
Greece looks ahead to 2030
Athens, April 16, 2025 | Enterprise Greece participated in WindEurope 2025, one of the most important international events for wind energy, held in Copenhagen from April 8 to 10. This year’s event attracted more than 16,200 participants and 550 exhibitors, confirming the sector’s dynamic growth and its increasing significance for Europe’s energy strategy and security.
As part of the event, Enterprise Greece held targeted bilateral meetings with top representatives of the European wind industry, focusing on investment opportunities in the Greek renewable energy market. The Enterprise Greece delegation presented the implementation framework for projects under Strategic Investments, the latest developments in the Renewable Energy Sources (RES) sector in Greece, highlighted the continuous improvement of the domestic investment environment, the growth prospects in offshore wind energy, and the high-level expertise available in Greece to support such investments.
Key discussion points during WindEurope 2025 included the challenges facing the European wind industry and the need to strengthen European planning. As emphasized, Europe has developed a robust and technically mature wind energy supply chain capable of delivering large-scale offshore wind projects. However, the development of new projects across Europe is facing delays, which widens the gap between production capacity and investment activation. This creates significant financial pressure on the sector and threatens its future viability. Furthermore, international developments, particularly in the U.S., underline the need for Europe to bolster its strategy with more cohesive and predictable policies to support offshore wind energy, aiming for security, competitiveness, and economic sustainability of the sector.
Referring to the opportunities in the wind sector, Dr. Marinos Giannopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, stated: “Enterprise Greece’s participation in WindEurope 2025 is part of the national strategy to promote Greece as an attractive and reliable investment destination in the clean energy sector, with a focus on technological innovation, while leveraging the country’s geostrategic position and highly skilled human capital. Having successfully installed 5.5 GW of onshore wind power, Greece is continuing its successful path toward the green transition by planning to install an additional 3.4 GW by 2030. To this will be added another 2 GW of offshore wind energy projects, expected to be developed by then, with the support of numerous Greek companies already active and successful in this and related sectors. Through targeted promotional actions, Enterprise Greece supports the internationalization of Greek companies in the sector via B2B meetings, networking events with investors, business missions, and participation in all major international exhibitions.”
