PROWEIN 2025: Greek Wine Impressed at the World’s Largest Wine and Spirits Exhibition

Athens, March 26, 2025 | Greek participation at the world’s largest wine and spirits exhibition, Prowein 2025, was impressive. The exhibition took place in Düsseldorf, Germany, from March 16 to 18, and Greece was represented by 96 wineries and distilleries. It attracted over 4,200 winemakers from 65 countries and 40,000 trade visitors from 128 countries.

The national pavilion, organized by Enterprise Greece, hosted 68 prominent winemakers and distillers who participated either independently or with the support of the regions of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Attica, Epirus, Thessaly, Crete, Peloponnese, and Central Greece.

To better showcase the wine sector of our country, Enterprise Greece organized and operated a Free Tasting area, featuring over 70 exceptional wine labels, which attracted thousands of trade visitors. Additionally, in collaboration with two exceptional Masters of Wine, German Caro Mauro and Briton Dimitri Walters, nine sold-out Masterclasses were held on Greek wine, attended by more than 500 industry experts. Furthermore, Greek participation was prominently displayed throughout the exhibition with large advertising banners, drawing in thousands of foreign visitors.

Dr. Marinos Giannopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, commented on Greece’s national participation at Prowein 2025: “We are absolutely satisfied with the impressive presence of the Greek exhibitors, who once again demonstrated the potential of this sector. As evidenced by our presence at Prowein this year, Greek wine varieties are gaining significant recognition and becoming popular in large European and American markets. Enterprise Greece, in collaboration with all sector stakeholders, will continue to contribute with specialized promotional actions to highlight the high quality of our wines and spirits, the expertise of our producers, and the unique characteristics of Greek varieties.

The national pavilion was honored by the presence of the Regional Governor of Attica, Mr. Nikos Hardalias, who spoke with all the winemakers from Attica and exhibitors participating in the pavilion. The national participation was also visited by the Consul General of Greece in Düsseldorf, Mr. Vasilis Koinis, and the Economic and Commercial Attaché, Mrs. Antonia Papadopoulou, Secretary of O.E.Y. A’, Head of the Commercial Section of the Consulate in Düsseldorf.
