Mission of Foreign and Economic Diplomats to the Region of  Central Greece (Sterea Ellada), 13 – 16 April 2016 

A mission of Economic and Commercial Counselors of Foreign Embassies was successfully organized by Enterprise Greece and the Region of Central Greece from April 13 to April 16 . The mission is part of Enterprise Greece’s Synergassia initiative that aims to promote all regions of Greece to Foreign Diplomats posted in Athens by highlighting the unique business opportunities that every region has to offer.

During the mission, Economic and Commercial Diplomats attended a workshop where the Region’s macroeconomic and investment profile was presented, met with local entrepreneurs in an effort to build on common synergies and visited  regional manufacturing sites and service firms.

The Governor of the Region, Mr. Kostas Bakoyannis, and Enterprise Greece’s CEO, Mr. Velissarios Dotsis, welcomed the participants on 13 April 2016 at a dinner. Before dinner, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Region of Central Greece and Enterprise Greece aiming to strengthen their cooperation in promoting the Region’s investment opportunities and enhancing its exports.

The following day, 14 April 2016, a workshop titled: “The business ecosystem of the Region of Central Greece” took place during which the  Minister of Rural Development and Food, Mr. Evangelos Apostolou, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism, Mr. Elias Xanthakos, addressed the participants.

800 B2B meetings among the Regions’ entrepreneurs and the visiting diplomats were organized to discuss possibilities for future cooperation.

The participating diplomats had also the opportunity to visit local, innovative companies in Fthiotida, Evia, Viotia and Fokida  (Palirroia S.A, Sabo S.A., ELVAL S.A., SKL-SKLAPANI  Bros, Xatzimichalis Estate and Galaxidi Marine Farm S.) in order to acquire a hands–on experience regarding the business and investment environment of the Region and its potential.

The Mission included representatives from China, USA, Canada, Hungary, Ireland, Slovakia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Egypt, Indonesia, Cyprus, Jordan, Tunisia, Peru, Poland, Slovenia, Israel, Russia, Portugal, Romania and the Philippines.
