8th China International Import Expo

Strong Greek Presence at the 8th China International Import Expo
Enterprise Greece played a decisive role in the success of the national participation
Athens, 25 November 2025 | Enterprise Greece successfully organized the National Participation at the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE), held in Shanghai from 5 to 10 November. Fifteen export-oriented companies from the agrifood sector participated in the Greek Pavilion, showcasing the high quality, authenticity, and nutritional excellence of Greek products.
The modern design and strategic positioning of the Greek Pavilion were instrumental in tripling the number of visits from buyers and potential partners. This enhanced visibility significantly strengthened Greece’s presence at the Expo, reaffirming the growing momentum of Greek exports in the Chinese market.
The national participation effectively highlighted the ideal production conditions offered by Greece, as well as the steady upward trajectory of Greek exports to China. The value of Greek exports to China reached €371 million in 2024, marking a strong increase in recent years. The Chinese market continues to demonstrate promising growth prospects for Greek agrifood products, as consumer interest in authentic, high-quality foods steadily rises.
CIIE is China’s largest import exhibition and one of the most important international trade platforms worldwide. This year’s event attracted more than 4,100 exhibitors from 127 countries, while trade agreements worth $83.49 billion were signed during the Expo. The National Pavilion Hall hosted exhibitors from 67 countries and international organizations, underscoring the exhibition’s critical role in strengthening global trade.
The Consul General of Greece in Shanghai, Mr. Spyridon Kritikos, accompanied by the heads of the Economic & Commercial Affairs Office and the Public Diplomacy Office, visited the CIIE on 6 November, one day after the official opening of the Expo. The visit highlighted the Greek state’s strong support for efforts to enhance Greece’s export activity in Asia.
As part of the National Participation, Enterprise Greece organized a matchmaking gala attended by Greek exhibitors and representatives of major Chinese companies. Among the attendees were Mr. Zhiqi Chen, representative of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference – Huangpu District, and Mr. Jing Chen, President of the Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. The event provided an organized platform for targeted business meetings, fostering new partnerships and strengthening the business ecosystem between Greece and China.
Commenting on Greece’s successful presence, Dr. Marinos Giannopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, stated: “Greece’s participation in the 8th CIIE confirms the upward trajectory of our exports and the strong penetration of Greek companies into one of the world’s most demanding markets. The tripling of visits to the national pavilion and the strong demand for Greek products show that our strategy is delivering results. At Enterprise Greece, we work systematically to enhance the competitiveness of Greek companies, leveraging modern economic diplomacy tools and targeted extroversion initiatives. Our presence at CIIE is yet another step toward the steady and sustainable growth of Greek exports in global markets.”
