Business Delegation with 22 Greek Companies to North Macedonia

Further strengthening of bilateral trade relations

Athens, 11 November 2025 | The first Greek business delegation to North Macedonia in six years successfully took place in Skopje from November 5 to 7, 2025, highlighting the opportunities for further expansion of Greek exports across all sectors of the economy. The mission was co-organized by Enterprise Greece, the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), and the Greek Exporters Association (SEVE), in cooperation with the Economic and Commercial Affairs Office of the Embassy of Greece in Skopje and the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, with the support of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN-Hellas 2028).

The delegation comprised 22 dynamic Greek companies active in the fields of construction and building materials, food and beverages, agrotechnical and medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and services. More than 150 targeted B2B meetings were held with local companies.

As part of the mission, on Wednesday, November 5, the Embassy of Greece in Skopje, in the presence of H.E. Ambassador Ms. Sofia Filippidou, and the Association of Greek Entrepreneurs of North Macedonia, hosted a dinner in honor of the Greek business delegation. The importance of Greece–North Macedonia trade relations in strengthening bilateral ties was underscored by the presence of Mr. Timčo Mucunski, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Trade, and Mr. Trajko Slaveski, Governor of the Central Bank of North Macedonia, as well as H.E. Ambassador Michail Rokas, Head of the EU Delegation to North Macedonia.

On Thursday, November 6, 2025, the Business Forum took place at the headquarters of the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia. Opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Branko Azeski, President of the Chamber, and H.E. Ambassador of Greece in Skopje, Ms. Sofia Filippidou. Greetings from the Greek delegation were extended by Mr. Fanis Matsopoulos, Member of the Executive Committee of ACCI; Ms. Vicky Makrygianni, Director of International Relations at SEV; and Mr. Sven Van Asperen, Member of the Board of SEVE.

A presentation on the prospects for trade cooperation between the two countries followed, delivered by Mr. Petros Al Ahmar, Officer at the Directorate of SMEs and Large Exporters – Industry, Energy, Shipping & Country Promotion of Enterprise Greece.

Subsequently, B2B meetings and networking sessions took place between the Greek companies and selected members of the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, aiming to foster synergies and new commercial partnerships.

That evening, Eurobank hosted a dinner for the members of the Greek delegation. Eurobank actively supported the mission, reaffirming its strategic commitment to promoting extroversion and supporting it through the Exportgate digital platform.

Commenting on the results of the business mission to North Macedonia, Dr. Marinos Giannopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, stated: “The meetings held between Greek companies and representatives of the North Macedonian market highlighted the importance of further strengthening the trade relations between the two countries. Greek products already have a strong presence in North Macedonia, while the neighboring country represents a dynamically developing market of particular interest for Greek entrepreneurship. Despite this positive foundation, there remains significant potential for growth in bilateral trade, especially given our geographical proximity and the complementarity of our economies. Further strengthening Greece–North Macedonia trade relations can substantially contribute to the stability and prosperity of the wider region. Enterprise Greece will continue its mission with consistency and determination in this direction.”

Mr. Fanis Matsopoulos, Member of the Executive Committee of ACCI, noted: “In an era of geopolitical turbulence and renewed protectionism, Greek enterprises are demonstrating their firm commitment to expanding their export activity. This shift will position Greece as a leading player in the evolving landscape of the Balkans. In this context, ACCI co-organized this highly successful business mission, which aims to bring together companies from both countries and foster mutually beneficial agreements.”

Ms. Vicky Makrygianni, Director of International Relations at SEV, stated: “Today’s Business Forum brings together representatives from Greece and North Macedonia — two neighboring countries with historical, cultural, and economic ties. This event reflects our shared commitment to strengthening dialogue, trust, and cooperation between our business communities and institutional partners. In recent years, our countries have made important steps to enhance their bilateral relations — politically and economically — aiming at mutual growth, investment attraction, and regional stability. Today, as we face global challenges, the role of economic cooperation is more vital than ever. By joining forces — in trade, innovation, energy, and technology — we can unlock new opportunities leading to greater prosperity for both nations.”

Mr. Sven Van Asperen, Member of the Board of SEVE, emphasized:“Today’s business mission to North Macedonia sends a clear message: extroversion and cooperation are the path to growth. The strong participation of companies from both countries demonstrates real interest and momentum for new synergies, investments, and trade partnerships. North Macedonia is a stable and important partner for Greece — with bilateral trade reaching €1.75 billion in 2024 — and there is great potential for further collaboration in sectors such as energy, food, technology, and construction. SEVE remains steadfast in supporting Greek export companies and fostering productive partnerships that generate added value for both sides.”
