Greece on the Radar of Smart Industry: Dynamic Participation by Enterprise Greece at the Global Smart Manufacturing Summit 2026
Athens, June 3, 2026 – Enterprise Greece highlighted Greece’s position in the new European industrial landscape and the country’s significant prospects for attracting high-technology, automation, and Industry 4.0 investments through its participation in the Global Smart Manufacturing Summit 2026.
The leading international event took place in Munich on May 28–29, 2026, and brought together major international industrial groups, technology providers, production executives, and digital transformation experts. Participants came from sectors including aerospace, automotive, industrial materials, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, energy efficiency, and logistics.
The conference was attended by major players from the aerospace, automotive, life sciences, and logistics sectors, including Rolls-Royce, Tata Steel, ZEISS, Coca-Cola HBC, SKF, Klüber Lubrication, Siemens, HIPRA, Opella, EthonAI, ONIQ, Arch Systems, WorkNomads, Bionorica, MTU Aero Engines, BMW, Roketsan, and many others.
The focus of the proceedings was on cutting-edge technologies that are radically transforming production: data utilization in manufacturing, industrial artificial intelligence, predictive maintenance, automation, supply chain resilience, sustainable production, circularity, and the transition to more flexible and efficient production models.
In this highly competitive environment, Enterprise Greece presented Greece’s investment proposition for next-generation industries, positioning the country as an ideal location for companies seeking production flexibility, access to the European market, regional coverage, and opportunities to collaborate with local industrial, technological, and research ecosystems.
The Greek proposition is based on a set of factors that enhance the country’s international competitiveness:
- Geostrategic Advantage: Direct access to the markets of Southeast Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean.
- Human Capital: A new generation of scientists and technicians with high digital skills.
- Incentives & Funding: Targeted tools to support digital transformation and green transition projects.
Emphasis was placed on showcasing mature, outward-looking Greek sectors — such as pharmaceuticals, industrial materials, batteries, and construction materials — that serve as an ideal base (hub) for developing interconnected production ecosystems and Industry 4.0 applications.
Enterprise Greece’s participation had a clear investment focus: developing targeted dialogue with international companies considering plans for industrial expansion, technology deployment, production diversification, regional presence, or supply chain restructuring with Greece and the wider region as a reference point.
Speaking about Enterprise Greece’s successful participation and the targeted meetings held with foreign investors during the summit, which created the foundations for new collaborations in Greece, the CEO of the organization, Dr. Marinos Giannopoulos, stated: “Greece is not merely following developments — it is ready to lead. At the Global Smart Manufacturing Summit, we delivered a clear message to international investment groups: our country now possesses stability, talent, and financing tools to evolve into a strong European base for smart manufacturing and innovation. The Greek industry is transforming and acquiring a distinctly outward-looking character. At Enterprise Greece, we stand by every strategic investment that combines cutting-edge technology with sustainable development, creating high added value for our economy.”
