Greek Food & Beverages Conquer the U.S. and Japan
Athens, March 27, 2026 | With a strong focus on extroversion and quality, 25 leading Greek food and beverage companies successfully concluded their participation in two of the world’s most important trade exhibitions. From sunny Los Angeles to futuristic Tokyo, Greek gastronomy proved it can take center stage in the most demanding global markets.
USA: Leading the Way in the “Mecca” of Natural Products
At the Natural Products Expo West (March 3–6, 2026, Los Angeles), the world’s premier event for organic products, the Greek presence stood out.
- Scale: More than 3,000 companies and 70,000 industry professionals.
- Objective: To position Greek land as synonymous with wellness and purity, attracting the interest of major U.S. retail chains.
Japan: A Gateway to the Asian Market
A few days later (March 10–13, 2026), the spotlight shifted to FOODEX JAPAN in Tokyo.
- Reach: Over 100,000 trade visitors from Japan, China, and South Korea experienced Greek flavors.
- Significance: Japan is a strategic partner market, where added value and the “Greece” brand continue to gain ground against international competition.
This participation was not merely an exhibition presence, but a strategic move to boost exports. Greek companies held hundreds of B2B meetings, laying the groundwork for new agreements that will bring Greek olive oil, honey, dairy products, and wines to every corner of the globe.
A common feature of both events is that they take place in developed, mature markets, with a combined population exceeding 300 million and high per capita income. Within this framework, Greek businesses had the opportunity to showcase the high quality and authenticity of their products to thousands of industry professionals, conduct hundreds of targeted B2B meetings, and lay the foundations for further export growth.
The Greek participation in Tokyo was honored by the presence of the Ambassador of Greece to Japan, Ms. Olga Kliamaki, accompanied by the Head of the Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs, Mr. Panagiotis Dermetzoglou.
