Strong Impact of Greek Wine in Germany and the United Kingdom Enterprise Greece coordinates actions to strengthen the international presence of the sector

Athens, May 11, 2026 – With a dynamic presence in key European markets, Enterprise Greece has enhanced the extroversion of the Greek wine sector through two targeted initiatives: the organization of the national participation in the international exhibition Prowein 2026 in Düsseldorf (15–17 March) and the support of the annual wine tasting event “Wines of Greece” in London (28 April), organized by the Greek Wine Association.

At Prowein 2026, the world’s largest international exhibition of wines and spirits, Greece made a strong impression with 69 wineries and distilleries. The Greek national pavilion, curated by Enterprise Greece, hosted 44 distinguished producers, either individually or with the support of the Regions of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Attica, Peloponnese, and Central Greece. The exhibition attracted more than 3,400 exhibitors from 63 countries and 31,000 trade visitors from 105 countries, reaffirming its central role in the global wine trade.

During the national participation, significant interest was recorded at the Free Tasting area, where more than 70 selected Greek wine labels were presented. Additionally, six specialized Masterclasses attracted over 300 industry professionals, further enhancing the recognition of Greek grape varieties and terroirs.

The promotion of Greek wine continued successfully in the United Kingdom with the “Wines of Greece” tasting event in London, where 35 wineries from across the country participated. The event drew more than 270 wine professionals, including representatives from major retail and distribution networks, specialized wine journalists, as well as leading sommeliers and holders of Master of Wine (MW) and Master Sommelier (MS) titles. Two thematic masterclasses showcased 35 selected labels, highlighting the breadth and quality of Greek wine production.

Dr. Marinos Yannopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, stated: “Our strategy focuses on the systematic promotion of the identity and high quality of Greek wine in international markets. The strong presence at Prowein and the targeted promotion in London confirm the dynamism of the sector and substantially strengthen the position of Greek varieties on the global wine map. Through such initiatives, we are laying solid foundations for new commercial partnerships and further penetration of Greek wines into high-value markets.”
