Factory Innovation Week 2026: Greece Builds Its Footprint in Next-Generation Industry

Greece Builds Its Footprint in Next-Generation Industry
Athens, 30 January 2026 | Targeted B2B meetings with Japanese and international companies, increased investment interest in cutting-edge sectors such as industrial robotics and artificial intelligence, and a clear message of industrial transformation define Enterprise Greece’s participation in Factory Innovation Week 2026 in Tokyo, Japan.
Enterprise Greece’s presence at the exhibition highlighted, in a well-documented and strategic manner, Greece’s growing role as an emerging investment platform for technologically advanced industrial activities, within a global environment marked by heightened uncertainty and rapid technological transition. This participation is part of a broader momentum, as the establishment and expansion of major international technology groups in Greece in recent years create favourable conditions for attracting high value-added investments with strong multiplier effects across the entire production chain.
The Greek pavilion was positioned within the core exhibition area dedicated to Smart Manufacturing, near leading Japanese and international corporate brands, underscoring Greece’s institutional and business presence in current industrial and technological developments.
Greece is steadily evolving into a hub for Industry 4.0 investments, with practical applications of smart manufacturing implemented across both large enterprises and SMEs. The digitalization and automation of production processes, the integration of artificial intelligence, robotics, and industrial IoT, as well as the use of real-time data analytics, are shaping a growing and operationally mature ecosystem.
This ecosystem is supported by targeted financial instruments, a competitive and unified incentive framework, fast-track licensing procedures, and comprehensive one-stop-shop services for investors. Combined with a highly skilled workforce and the country’s strategic geographic position at the crossroads of Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, Greece is strengthening its position as a reliable base for international industrial and technological investments.
During the exhibition, Enterprise Greece conducted 21 targeted B2B meetings with Japanese and international companies active in critical sectors, including industrial robotics and automation, artificial intelligence and industrial data analytics, digital twins and production process simulations, industrial IoT and connectivity, smart grids and energy solutions, software for smart factories and supply chains, as well as HealthTech technologies, including digital health solutions, medical software, and data analytics applications.
These meetings recorded active interest with further investment prospects in areas such as advanced and collaborative robotics (cobots), artificial intelligence and machine vision for smart manufacturing, as well as proprietary SaaS digital platforms with applications in manufacturing and construction.
This development confirms the alignment of Greece’s investment proposition with prevailing global technological and industrial trends.
In his statement, the CEO of Enterprise Greece, Dr. Marinos Giannopoulos, noted: “The transition to a more resilient and diversified production model is a central economic priority for Greece. In a rapidly changing international environment that demands technological maturity and adaptability, the country is systematically investing in high value-added industry, digital production, and the structured integration of innovation. This strategy measurably strengthens productivity over time and leads to the creation of specialized, high-quality and better-paid jobs, contributing to sustainable income growth and the overall upgrading of living standards. Enterprise Greece acts as a catalyst in this transition, connecting international investors with a mature production ecosystem capable of supporting complex and technologically demanding investments with long-term economic impact.”
