300 Greek exporters participate in SIAL PARIS 2022, the largest international food trade show

Athens, October 17, 2022 | After a four-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the largest international food exhibition SIAL PARIS 2022 resumed this year with the participation of more than 300 Greek exporters of food and beverage. The Greek participation was the 5th largest national participation, reflecting the great reach and popularity of Greek food products worldwide.
SIAL PARIS 2022 drew 7,000 exhibitors from 126 countries to this premier event for the international food & beverage industry, taking place from 15 to 19 of October 2022. The trade show highlighted the latest consumer trends: natural foods, environmentally and ethically responsible producers, and the pleasure we take from food.
The national pavilion, organized by Enterprise Greece, hosted 100 Greek producers and 20,000 B2B meetings, with the support of the regions of Attica, Thessaly, Epirus, Central Greece, and the Chambers of Achaia, Viotia, Evia and Larissa.
With a theme of the well-being and pleasure Greek food provides, the national pavilion featured a special display of feta cheese and Greek yogurt, and Chef Dina Nikolaou created Greek recipes daily to tempt the palates of the throngs of visitors.
The Minister of Rural Development and Food, George Georgantas, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs responsible for Economic Diplomacy and Openness, Kostas Fragogiannis, and the Secretary General of International Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of Enterprise Greece, Ioannis Smyrlis, visited and toured the national pavilion.
In remarks, Minister Georgantas, stated: “The promotion of Greek products through the SIAL International Exhibition provides the opportunity for Greek food, beverages and agricultural products to gain added value and explore new export routes, contributing to the development of the Greek economy.”
Deputy Minister Fragogiannis said: “More than 300 Greek exporters are participating in SIAL 2022, ranking Greece the fifth country in number of participants. The Greek state actively supports the participation of Greek producers in international exhibitions and any outreach activity that will strengthen their presence in international markets. The fact that Greek producers are making use of the tools provided by the Ministry’s Economic Diplomacy division − our Embassies and the Offices of Economic Affairs, Enterprise Greece, the Hellenic Export Credit Organization − is extremely encouraging.”
Enterprise Greece Chairman Ioannis Smyrlis added: “The way our economic diplomacy is structured, with Enterprise Greece as the cutting edge, we use all our resources to create the best conditions for Greek entrepreneurship. Through constructive cooperation between associations and exporters, we are moving forward together, despite difficult international conditions, towards a new export record in 2022.”
