5th meeting of Enterprise Greece’s Extroversion Council

Athens, July 12th, 2024 | The 5th meeting of the Greek Investment and Foreign Trade Agency’s (Enterprise Greece) Extroversion Council was held on Thursday 11/07/2024 at 11:00 am, at the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV).
The opening of the event was declared by the Extroversion Council’s President, Secretary General for International Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and President of Enterprise Greece, Ms. Maira Myrogianni, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, responsible for Economic Diplomacy and Extroversion, Mr. Kostas Fragogiannis, the CEO of Enterprise Greece, Dr. Marinos Giannopoulos, the representative of SEV, Mr. Panos Lolos and the Council’s Members, who are representatives of institutions / professional organisations.
The meeting was attended by: a) Ms. Rania Ekaterinari, Chairman of SEV’s Executive Committee, Mr. Panos Lolos, Member of SEV’s Board of Directors & Chairman of the Committee on Extroversion, and Ms. Vicky Makrygianni, Director of International Relations & Regional Policy (SEV), b) Mr. Christos Michalakis, Treasurer of the Association of Greek Regions, c) Ms. Maria Gatsou, General Manager of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), d) Mr. Evangelos Nikas, Member of the Economic Chamber of Greece’s (EEE) Assembly, e) Mr. Alkiviadis Kalambokis, President of the Panhellenic Exporters’ Association (PEA) and President of the Exporters’ Association of Crete (EAC), f) Mr. Antonis Kamaras, Management Consultant of the Federation of Industries of Greece (SBE), g) Mr. Simeon Diamantidis, President, and Mr. Panagiotis Hasapis, Executive Vice President of the Greek Exporters Association (SEVE), h) Ms. Sophia Efraimoglou-Kounenaki, President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (A.C.C.I.) and Mr. Nikolaos Vassiliou, Member of EVEA’s Administrative Committee / Head of International Relations, i) Mr. Vassilis Korkidis, President of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce & Industry (EVEP), j) Mr. Panagiotis Menexopoulos, Secretary General of the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI), and k) Mr. Grigoris Stamatopoulos, President of the Export Credit Greece (ECG).
The meeting agenda included the following items:
1. Presentation by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kostas Fragogiannis, of the National Strategic Plan for Extroversion 2024, as well as of the Synergy in view of elaborating the National Strategic Plan for Extroversion 2025.
2. Reference to vocational training programmes aiming to provide Greek enterprises with access to international markets.
3. The new actions of Enterprise Greece
4. Update on EXPO 2025, to be held in Osaka, Japan
5. Proposals in view of the 88th International Trade Fair of Thessaloniki
6. Statements by Council members.
The Secretary General for International Economic Affairs (SG for IOA) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and President of the Greek Investment and Foreign Trade Agency (Enterprise Greece), Ms. Maira Myrogianni, thanked the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) for the warm hospitality and went on to present the National Strategic Plan for Extroversion (NSPE) 2024. The NSPE, underlined the SG for IOA, constitutes a strong political commitment, while its key success factors are the common targets together with manufacturing bodies. She also pointed out that the NSPE, which is being implemented for the 4th year, has already yielded tangible results, emphasizing on the dynamic nature of the process. The NSPE 2024 involves three strategic objectives and includes a total of 645 actions. Ms. Myrogianni referred to the planned actions in view of the 88th TIF in September, with Germany as the country of honour. In addition, the GS for IOA, who recently participated in the 4th General Meeting of International Participations, in her capacity as General Commissioner, presented the multiplying benefits of Greece’s participation in the International Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, in order to promote the image of a modern and dynamic Greece.
In his address, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, responsible for Economic Diplomacy and Extroversion, Mr Kostas Fragogiannis, pointed out the increase in the number of business missions, which he attributed to the greater extroversion of the Greek economy and the Greek government, as well as to the increase in Foreign Direct Investment obtained by Greece. He stressed the importance of both promptly planning extroversion actions and broadening the base of companies participating in the missions, in order to include a sufficient number of small and medium-sized enterprises. The Deputy Minister also underlined the importance of listening to the needs of business organisations, on the one hand, and coordinating their synergies, on the other; in addition, he referred to the help that Enterprise Greece’s special training programmes can provide.
The CEO of Enterprise Greece, Dr. Marinos Giannopoulos, referred to the strategic guidance provided to the Company by the Extroversion Council, as well as to the specialized expertise shared by its Members. He stressed that the Extroversion Council is a key pillar for the successful implementation of the Company’s actions, offering valuable knowledge and guidance. Then, Dr. Giannopoulos presented a review of the Company’s actions in 2023, highlighting the successes and achievements for the year. He referred to the numerous initiatives implemented, which have significantly contributed to the promotion of Greek exports and the internationalisation of Greek businesses, by executing a series of targeted actions and tools. The Company’s actions were supported by all its partners’ and executives’ strong commitment to achieve high targets for strengthening Greece’s presence in international markets. At the same time, he presented new projects and initiatives launched for 2024, underlining Enterprise Greece’s commitment to innovation and improvement.
