A business mission of Czech nanotechnology enterprises, in Greece
Athens, 23 September 2021 | The Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry – ACCI – in collaboration with the Embassy of the Czech Republic and Enterprise Greece , welcomed on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, a Business Mission of Czech nanotechnology enterprises.
The President of Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Ioannis Bratakos, the President of the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments (HDBI – ex TANEO) and member of the BoD of the Chamber, Dr. Haris Lambropoulos and the Board member responsible for the trade relations between the two countries, Mr. Andreas Bekiras, welcomed the Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Mr. Jakub Karfik, shortly before the event.
Dr. Haris Lambropoulos in his welcome remarks stated that: “Nanotechnology is one of the fastest growing industries in the world and the driving force behind a new industrial revolution”. Dr. Lampropoulos referred to the vision of the Athens Chamber of Business Incubators, noting that “our vision is for the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry to go beyond incubation and acceleration. We are currently preparing our new plan, in order to facilitate the creation of an “umbrella”, which will provide institutional representation to all stakeholders, in order to act as a catalyst for the ecosystem of start-ups in our country”.
The Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Athens, Mr. Jakub Karfik, stated that “it is a great honor and pleasure for me to welcome in Greece the delegation of Czech enterprises dealing with nanotechnology. My role is to encourage successful and fruitful cooperation, for the benefit of both counterparties”.
Mr. George Filiopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, stressed on how well timed the visit is, emphasizing that: “It coincides with the reforms that are taking place in our country, but also with the global climate changes that we are all facing. Green and sustainable development is a strategic priority for Greece and innovation and new technologies are at the heart of this strategy. In recent years, several high-tech enterprises including automakers and electric vehicle manufacturers, are investing in Greece. In addition, at the end of last year, Microsoft announced its plan to invest in Greece by constructing three data centers”. He then added: “Greece has more innovative small and medium-sized enterprises than the EU average, as well as an ecosystem of start-ups that is maturing. Innovation is evident in a number of areas, from shipping equipment to building materials and life sciences. The country is in a particularly good state to meet the growing demand for innovative technological solutions”.
The introductions were followed by the presentations of Mr. Nikolaos Stamou from Enterprise Greece and Mr. Jiri Kus, Chairman of the Nanotechnology Industry Association of the Czech Republic.
The event came to an end with the elaborate presentation of the eight Czech enterprises with high specialization in nanotechnology, followed by b2b meeting with Greek enterprises.
