Agreement for Marina Development Project

Athens, 15 November 2018| Enterprise Greece signed an agreement today with the municipality of Lefkada island to assist the local government in developing a marina in the area of Vlychos as part of an ongoing strategy by the agency to aid in the development of local public works projects.
Under the agreement, a business plan for the creation of the marina will be developed. The process will include studies on the technical feasibility of the project, licensing procedures, as well as the viability and profitability of the investment. Once completed, the project will be submitted for approval to the Interministerial Committee for Strategic Investments under Law 3894/2010. The role of Enterprise Greece will be to draw up the tender documents for the concession of the project in cooperation with the municipality of Lefkada and the municipal port fund.
The agreement was signed by Chairman and CEO of Enterprise Greece, Grigoris Stergioulis,
Mayor of Lefkada, Konstantinos Drakontaeidis, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Municipal Port Fund of Lefkada, Evangelos Chalikias. The agreement is the third such cooperative initiative signed by Enterprise Greece with local governments to help develop local infrastructure projects following similar agreements for Delphi and Santorini.
Enterprise Greece Chairman and CEO, Grigoris Stergioulis said: “The signing of the current agreement is another Enterprise Greece initiative to attract and support productive investments in Greece. The Vlychos Marina is an infrastructure project of particular significance that will bring multiple benefits to both the local community and the general public and will contribute to sustainable development, which is also a strategic objective of our country. We, on our part, will do our utmost to realize this project.”
The Mayor of Lefkada, Konstantinos Drakontaeidis said: “Today is a very important day for Lefkada and for the Ionian Islands. With the signing of the agreement between Enterprise Greece, the Municipality of Lefkada and the Lefkada Municipal Port Fund, we are creating the right preconditions for the construction of an infrastructure project of enormous importance. The benefits for the local community, the wider region, the municipality and the port authority of Lefkada will be manifold. I want to thank Enterprise Greece, the chairman and his colleagues for the excellent cooperation throughout our discussions, and which have led to this excellent outcome.”
The President of the Municipal Port Fund of Lefkada, Evangelos Chalikias said: “With the launch of this project, the role of the Municipal Port Fund has been enhanced. We anticipate that the project will improve both the business prospects and environment of the wider region of Vlychos, which will have a significant positive impact on local society and the environment.”
