Anuga 2019 Fair

Athens, 11 October 2019 | A record 286 Greek food and beverage exporters participated at this month’s ANUGA International Food and Beverage Fair 2019, the world’s largest F&B exhibition, reflecting the dynamic expansion of Greek exports in recent years.

The fair, held 5-9 October in Cologne, Germany drew more than 170,000 visitors from around the world with Greece boasting the sixth largest participation among European countries. The national pavilion, which stood out among 106 other national pavilions, was organized by Enterprise Greece and hosted major food exporters from all over Greece. The Greek pavilion also included representatives from almost all of Greece’s regional governments, which have become increasingly active in promoting exports and in helping their local companies participate in major trade fairs abroad.

To better promote Greek gastronomy, Enterprise Greece operated a special Business Hospitality Center under the name GREECE GOURMET where visitors could taste Greek cuisine and hold events and business meetings. In addition to sampling Greek food products, visitors also learned about the competitive advantages of Greek agriculture and the country’s agro-food industry, while posters distributed throughout the exhibition further helped promote Greece and Greek products.

The Minister of Agricultural Development and Food, Makis Voridis, visited the Greek pavilion and spoke with Greek exporters present. At a special event organized by Enterprise Greece at the pavilion, the Minister highlighted the impressive Greek participation, and spoke about the government’s efforts to further support agricultural production.

The Greek pavilion was further honored by the presence of the Deputy Minister of Macedonia – Thrace Theodoros Karaoglou, Epirus Regional Governor Alexandros Kachrimanis, Consul General of Greece in Düsseldorf Maria Papakonstantinou, and Foreign Ministry Advisors Paris Nikolis and Frida Georgiou of the Consulate’s commercial department.
