BOOT DUSSELDORF 2024: Participation of Greece at the International Marine Equipment Exhibition

Athens, February 1, 2024 | Greece participated for another year in the largest international exposition of boats, sea sports, equipment, and marine tourism services. Enterprise Greece coordinated Greece’s participation in the 55th BOOT DUSSELDORF International Marine Equipment Exhibition, held in Germany from January 20 to 28, 2024.

Nine Greek firms participated at the 55th BOOT DUSSELDORF International Marine Equipment Exhibition, which was organized by Enterprise Greece and drew around 214,000 visitors from 120 countries over its 220,000 square meter footprint. Over 1,500 firms from 67 countries took part in the expo overall, and this year there was a 21% increase in traffic. Sailing and motorboats were the most popular attractions for tourists, followed by diving gear and aquatic activities. Charter and trip package services, together with marine equipment, also scored highly in terms of preferences.

Enterprise Greece organized for the first time a business networking event (Nautical Networking Event) in Hall 13 “Destination Seaside,” in which more than 100 executives of foreign companies, press representatives, and, of course, Greek exhibitors participated. During the event, the Director of the BOOT exhibition, Mr. Petros Michelidakis, addressed a greeting, while the General Manager of Strategic Development of Foreign Trade of Enterprise Greece, Mr. Yannis Retsas, referred to sailing.

Greece now holds a 27% market share for yacht charter locations, mostly due to its favorable weather, ample mooring possibilities, and the unmatched beauty of the Aegean and Ionian seas. In addition to spurring economic growth, the post-pandemic rebound in cruise travel has also helped the expanding yachting industry. Greece’s determination to become a global leader in the yachting sector is further supported by the increase in visitor numbers, which emphasizes the indisputable connection between yachting and tourism.

Mr. Vassilis Koinis, the Consul General in Dusseldorf, inspected both the show and the Greek booth. He said, “Once again, the Greek presence at the BOOT International Exhibition of Yachts and Marine Tourism was remarkable.” Many of the exhibitors were sponsored by Enterprise Greece, which helped to emphasize the Greekness of the items in many exhibition rooms as well as through the booths’ distinctive signage. In order to ensure that Greece has an even stronger representation at the next international exhibitions, we expect that Enterprise Greece will keep helping Greek exhibitors.”
