China International Import Expo 2018

Greek state trade and investment promotion agency Enterprise Greece has hosted a special conference to brief the Greek business community about market opportunities in China ahead of the first China International Import Expo to be held in Shanghai Nov. 5-10, 2018, and where Greece will be the honored country.
The conference, which was organized under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs March 29, is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to promote the outward orientation of Greek businesses and boost Greek exports.
In remarks, Deputy Minister of Economy & Development Stergios Pitsiorlas emphasized the importance of Greek participation in the upcoming trade fair and the need for a coordinated effort by various agencies to showcase the best of Greece at the exhibition.
Enterprise Greece CEO Elias Athanasiou welcomed participants, remarking that “Greece is frequently called upon to demonstrate its strong comparative advantages and is well able to do so. Our participation in this exhibition, one of the largest and most significant in the global market, is yet another such opportunity for Greece. It is an opportunity to showcase, not only the internal advantages of the country, but the added value of Greece’s high quality goods and services at a major event such as the CIIE 2018.”
The People’s Republic of China, through its first China International Import Expo, aims to open new channels of international cooperation and communication in an effort to further develop the country’s huge trade potential but also, in the longer term, to boost the world economy by contributing to a global climate of prosperity and development. At the same time, it seeks to usher in a new era of development and cooperation with a wide range of partners.
The international trade fair follows the official announcement by the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, in May 2017 at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. It is being hosted by China’s Ministry of Commerce, the Shanghai municipal government, as is being supported by international trade and development bodies, such as the World Trade Organization. It is being organized by the China International Import Export Bureau and the National Exhibition and Convention Center of Shanghai.
For further information and to register participation, Greece businesses should visit the Enterprise Greece website at www.enterprisegreece.gov.gr. The deadline for registering participation is May 21.
