Doing Business in UAE Webinar

The digital event titled: «Doing Business in United Arab Emirates – Covid-19 Challenges and Opportunities”, organized on March 31, 2021, by Enterprise Greece, in collaboration with the Embassy of Greece in the United Arab Emirates and the Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs in Dubai, highlighted the challenges and opportunities that the UAE market offers for Greek enterprises.
Positive prospects for Greek enterprises wishing to operate in the UAE market were identified during the webinar, given the Greece-UAE strategic cooperation, as well as the revised, positive forecasts for economic growth, for Greece in 2021.
Given the fact that bilateral trade relations showcased ongoing resilience in 2020 and to-date, the prospects are more than encouraging for the further development of trade activities between the two countries especially in key sectors of the economy.
Our country’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, organized by Enterprise Greece, is expected to offer a new dimension to the bilateral relations. In this global event, which takes place for the first time in the Middle East, the mainstay of the Greek presence will be innovation. During the six-month duration of the exhibition, in collaboration with the relevant ministries and agencies, a number of business events will be organized aiming to promote Greek products and services.
The sectors with the strongest export potential are: construction, pharmaceuticals and personal care. At the same time, the UAE’s commitment to sustainable development and the utilization of the “knowledge-based economy”, creates opportunities for Greek companies, in the Renewable Energy Sector and new technologies. Enterprise Greece firmly supports Greek enterprises in their effort to benefit from business opportunities presented in the market, through the organization of a national pavilion in all major industry exhibitions organized in the country. Despite current challenges resulting from the pandemic, Enterprise Greece supported the national participation in this year’s Gulfood, back in February 2021.
The Executive Director and Member of the Board of Enterprise Greece, Ms. Betty Alexandropoulou, who also serves as the Deputy General Commissioner of Greece at Expo2020 Dubai, stated: “It is with great pleasure tο see the growing interest of Greek enterprises for the promising market of United Arab Emirates. More than 420 participants expressed interest in the targeted and valid market information offered by the series “Doing Business in…Covid-19 Challenges and Opportunities”, on the export prospects in the UAE. This is especially encouraging given the upcoming Greek presence in EXPO 2020 Dubai, beginning October 2021, with excellent prospects for Greek trade companies”.
Mr. Pantelis Gassios, Counsel A’ and Ms. Maria Kostopoloulou, Secretary of the Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Greek Embassy in the UAE, reported: “We look forward to jointly organize additional actions aiming at strengthening trade and investment cooperation between the business communities of the two countries. “Good knowledge of import procedures, market conditions and establishing a network of appropriate business contacts, are the most essential tools for placing Greek companies in the extremely interesting and potentially profitable market of the UAE».
Αdriano Konialidis, Director, International Participants, EXPO2020 Dubai stated: “Expo 2020 Dubai consists a truly unique strategic platform for businesses and government agencies from around the world, allowing them to get in touch and explore new business opportunities. For Greek enterprises, the country’s presence at EXPO 2020 Dubai will be an excellent opportunity to further explore trade relations with the other participating countries and of course the UAE. The presence of Greece and Greek enterprises in Expo 2020 Dubai, contributes to the creation of long term relationships that will build a legacy for the coming years and strengthen even more, the already strong bilateral relationship that exists between Greece and the United Arab Emirates”.
