Doing Business in USA Webinar

Athens, 16 June 2020 | More than 160 companies from various sectors of the economy participated in the first export webinar organized by Enterprise Greece, in cooperation with the Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs in Washington, DC. The webinar was addressed to executives of Greek export companies with an interest in the US market.
Enterprise Greece, in response to the challenges facing businesses in the post-COVID-19 era, has taken the initiative to organize a series of webinars that will be addressed mainly to small- and medium-sized enterprises. The webinars are organized in collaboration with the Economic and Commercial Affairs Offices of the Greek Embassies and Consulates in countries with prospective markets for Greek products.
This cycle on the US market began 11 June 2020 with the webinar “Doing Business in the USA: COVID-19 Challenges and Opportunities,” which provided participants with general information on how to engage in the US market. The cycle on the US will continue with two additional webinars: one on 24 June focusing on Food and Agricultural Products, and one on 30 June for the Technology sector. These new webinars are designed specifically to focus on the opportunities and challenges that companies face in expanding their activities in the US amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
There is no cost of participation in the webinars and they are open to all business executives and officials at export-oriented companies. A range of key target markets will be covered by the end of the year.
Betty Alexandropoulou, Executive Director and Board Member of Enterprise Greece, said: “As we begin to see the economic impact of the pandemic, new challenges are emerging for businesses around the world. Effective use of technology is a key solution to the problem of distance and related COVID-19 effects. The US is a valuable trading partner and a dynamic export market for Greek companies, where we have seen a sharp increase in exports in recent years as well as growing interest by various industries in the American market. It is therefore natural that our efforts to support Greek companies would begin with the US market. Other webinars will soon follow, as well as a variety of digital initiatives to support foreign trade in collaboration with the Economic and Commercial Affairs Offices of our Embassies around the world.”
Panagiotis Dermentzoglou, First Counselor, Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs in Washington, DC said: “With a focus on the US market, we co-organized with Enterprise Greece (EG) the webinar ‘Doing Business in the USA: Covid-19 Challenges and Opportunities,’ and we congratulate Enterprise Greece for the initiative to create this highly relevant series of webinars. Given the economic situation in the United States, due to the COVID-19 crisis, we believe that the organization of this webinar was extremely timely, given the special importance of the US market for Greek exports – the 6th largest Greek export market in 2019. In the midst of the fluid conditions and the ‘new normal’ business environment in the United States, continuous monitoring is needed to develop contacts and identify appropriate opportunities, and we remain at the disposal of those interested in our assistance.”
