EG’s 1st Investment Seminar

Athens, 5 June 2020 | Investment opportunities in Greek tourism and real estate were the topic of the first investment webinar organized by Enterprise Greece, part of a series of digital initiatives undertaken by the agency in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The webinar, held May 27 and organized in cooperation with the Greek Embassy in Moscow and the Hellenic-Russian Chamber of Commerce, presented Greece’s investment proposition in the tourism and real estate sectors to Russian business executives.
More than thirty-five Russian executives participated in the webinar, which showcased Greece’s comparative advantages as one of the world’s most popular travel destinations, as well as the initiatives taken by the Greek government to support businesses in the midst of the pandemic.
In response to the coronavirus crisis, Enterprise Greece has developed a program of digital events and actions for the months ahead, which includes a number of targeted webinars for specific sectors and markets. In June alone, the agency is planning a further investment webinar focusing on renewable energy, webinars on key export markets and industries, and is launching online technical skills training for small businesses.
George Filiopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, said: “The continuous promotion of Greece’s investment proposition in important sectors, such as tourism and real estate, is of paramount importance, especially at the present time as we face the challenges of the pandemic. Enterprise Greece, through targeted actions, aims to build on those efforts. Russia has been, and continues to be, an important market for attracting quality and high value-added investment in both sectors.”
Christos Farmakis, Head of the Office of Commercial and Financial Affairs at the Greek Embassy in Moscow, said: “Greece’s effective management of the Covid19 crisis has increased the confidence of foreign investors. This was clear during the first investment webinar organized by Enterprise Greece, in which more than 35 Russian potential investors participated. Our office, in cooperation with Enterprise Greece and utilizing the possibilities of new technologies, will support similar events in order to strengthen the economic and commercial ties between Russia and Greece.”
Pantelis Skarlatos, President of the Hellenic-Russian Chamber of Commerce, said: “Russia is a very important market for Greek exporters and, of course, for tourism development and for attracting major investments to our country. We are pleased that through our participation in events, such as this webinar, can contribute to those goals.”
Maria Yasukevich, Greece project manager for Russian developer Mirum said: “We welcome the initiative of Enterprise Greece. It was a successful event and we hope it represents a new beginning for the Russian market! Greece has many opportunities for strategic investments. It is time for extroversion and attracting new investors! We assist in this effort because we believe in the dynamics of the country and we love Greece!”
