Enterprise Greece, Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry host EU-sponsored pitching session for Greek startups

Athens, September 16, 2022 | Enterprise Greece and the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) this month organized a groundbreaking pitching session for rapidly growing Greek startups as part of a European Union backed initiative to help promising new companies expand their operations.

The event was held on September 11 within the framework of the 86th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) and included the participation of ten specially selected Greek startups. The joint initiative forms part of the EU’s Project GAZELLE (orGAniZing accELaration for high-potential innovative SMEs) that falls under the INTERREG Balkan-Mediterranean 2014-2020 Program.

During the pitching session, the 10 Greek startups presented their business ideas to the audience, which consisted of investors from Greece and the United Arab Emirates − the honored country at the 86th TIF − as well as representatives from public and private organizations.

Participating in the event were Deputy Minister of Economic Diplomacy and Openness of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kostas Fragogiannis; Secretary General for International Economic Affairs and Openness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Enterprise Greece Ioannis Smyrlis; and Sofia Kounenaki Efraimoglou, President and 1st Vice President of ACCI.

Also present was Haris Lambropoulos, Elected Member of the Board of ACCI and President of Hellenic Development Bank of Investments SA, who addressed participants and outlined initiatives and financial tools available to support the Greek innovation ecosystem.
