Enterprise Greece Leads Mission to India
Athens, 19 November 2018| A business mission, organized by Enterprise Greece, to New Delhi, 16-18 November 2018, to promote investments in Greece and strengthen Greek-Indian business relations in was completed with resounding success.
The mission to New Delhi, headed by Grigoris Stergioulis, Chairman and CEO of Enterprise Greece followed on the successful Greek-Indian Business Forum co-organized by the agency in Athens in June during the official visit by the President of India to Greece.
In order to strengthen bilateral business relations, Enterprise Greece co-organized an investment seminar on Friday, 16 November, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (www.cii.in). Mr. Stergioulis, and Constantinos Angelopoulos, Director of Investment Promotion at Enterprise Greece, presented the recent positive economic developments in Greece and the investment opportunities in cutting-edge industries. The event drew leading Indian businessmen and executives from the tourism, manufacturing, construction, mining, food, energy and technology sectors. The Confederation of Indian Industry was founded in 1895 and represents more than 300,000 enterprises from 265 Indian business associations.
Introductory speeches by Mr. Tejpreet Chopra, Co-Chairman of the National Committee of the CII for Renewable Sources of Energy and Manufacturing in India, and Mr. Panos Kalogeropoulos, Ambassador of Greece to India opened the seminar.
Concurrently, Enterprise Greece participated for the first time in the International Real Estate Expo – IREX India 2018 (www.irexindia.com), with a stand, aiming to promote investments in Greece, the tourism and real estate sectors and providing information about the Golden Visa program. The Greek stand drew keen interest from hundreds of visitors to the Expo, who were informed about the Golden Visa program and its benefits. Enterprise Greece also had the opportunity to present the services it offers to investors and investment opportunities in all sectors of the Greek economy, as part of a special presentation at the parallel conference that was organized during the Expo. Mr. Stergioulis participated, with representatives of other countries, in a discussion panel moderated by CNBC journalist Manisha Natarajan. More than 1,500 visitors visited the exhibition.
Finally, the Enterprise Greece mission met with high-ranking executives from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), www.ficci.in, with whom they agreed to implement joint actions in Greece and India in 2019.
This mission is part of Enterprise Greece’s strategic plan to develop commercial relations with India to attract investment and promote Greek exports. Further events and initiatives are planned for 2019 and 2020. India is a high-priority market for Enterprise Greece, given that it is the second largest country in the world with a population of more than 1.3 billion people, including 300,000 millionaires, the number of which is growing at about 20% per year.
