Enterprise Greece Represents Greece at “The District” Conference

Athens 3 October 2024 | Enterprise Greece represented Greece, a regional partner, at the 3rd International Conference “The District” in the Real Estate sector, held at the Fira Barcelona Gran Vía exhibition center from September 25 to 27, 2024. The participation followed an invitation from the event organizers, Next Business Exhibitions (NEBEXT).

At the conference’s opening, the event’s President, Mr. Juan Velayos, highlighted Greece’s participation and encouraged attendees to engage with Enterprise Greece to explore potential partnerships and investment opportunities in the country.

On the first day of the conference (September 25), Enterprise Greece, alongside speakers from Spain and Mexico, participated in a panel discussion on “Cross-Border Investment Opportunities,” focusing on the general investment climate and opportunities in Greece’s real estate sector. On the final day (September 27), an Enterprise Greece executive delivered a presentation titled “The Greek Real Estate Market: Opportunities and Trends,” showcasing the investment prospects in Greece’s real estate market.

Enterprise Greece facilitated business visits and meetings at the Greek pavilion throughout the conference with exhibitors, investment fund representatives, real estate development groups, and financial organizations. The event organizers further supported these meetings, and arranged discussions with key Spanish investors. The Economic and Commercial Affairs Office of the Greek Embassy in Madrid also played a pivotal role in identifying and coordinating activities, as well as facilitating connections with the organizing company.

“The District” Exhibition has established itself as a premier global meeting point for the real estate industry, attracting over 12,000 participants from more than 30 countries. Attendees included representatives from the real estate investment industry, banking institutions, government agencies, and local authorities. Among the notable participants were major investment groups like Blackstone, Cerberus, and BlackRock, along with prominent Spanish banks such as Banco Santander and CaixaBank. The conference program featured 417 speakers from the international real estate market.

This year, special emphasis was placed on investment opportunities in the tourist real estate sector, particularly as Spain is emerging as a leading destination within the EU for real estate investments, especially in hotel properties. Other key topics discussed included the housing crisis affecting young people, public-private partnership strategies, lifestyle and mobility changes, as well as decarbonization and sustainability in the real estate sector.
