Expo Milano 2015

On Wednesday 24 June 2015, the Greek Pavilion at Milan’s Expo 2015 welcomed a host of visitors to a special tasting at which the chef Spyros Theodoridis, winner of the first Italian MasterChef competition, presented the exceptional benefits of the Mediterranean aquaculture.
The way in which we enjoy sea bream and sea bass in Greece was demonstrated with mastery and originality, while traditional local Italian products were also used in two different recipes.
Tradition and European culinary art made a perfect match, supporting Greece’s decision to take part in the Cluster BioMediterraneo: “The art of gastronomy unites and empowers the Mediterranean countries”.
The event was honoured by the presence of the General Commissioner of the Expo, Bruno Pasquino, and the commissioners of Mexico, Lebanon, San Marino, Serbia, and other countries, as well as large delegations from most of the participating countries.
This was the first in a series of events that will take place at the Greek Pavilion at Expo 2105 as part of the programme to promote euryhaline species (sea bream and sea bass) in Mediterranean aquaculture, which is jointly funded by the European Union as part of the 2007-2013 Operational Programme for Fisheries. Our chef, Spyros Theodoridis, is one of the programme’s ambassadors. The next event is scheduled for 15 July 2015 in the Common Area Theater of Cluster BioMediterraneo.
The International Exhibition Expo takes place every five years and lasts for six months. This year, it is being held in Milan from 1st May to 31st October 2015, and its theme is “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. During Expo Milano 2015, the exchange of ideas and joint solutions for food will aim to mobilise all countries so that innovative approaches for a sustainable future can be promoted.
