Fancy Food Show 2019
Athens, 3 July 2019 | A record number of Greek food exporters participated in this month’s Summer Fancy Food Show in New York, the largest specialty food industry event in North America, reflecting the dynamic and growing presence of Greek F&B companies in the US market.
More than 60 Greek exhibitors enticed the 40,000 business visitors to the 2019 Fancy Food Show, held June 23-25, with a taste of the fine foods and ingredients of Greece. The national pavilion, organized by Enterprise Greece, featured a “Taste It Live” section where visitors were treated to Greek delicacies prepared by celebrity chef Maria Loi, showcasing the unique and high-quality food products of the country.
Another special section was dedicated to the promotion of table olives, one of the most dynamic branches of Greek agricultural production. The presentation was organized by the Panhellenic Association of Table Olives (PEMETE), which manages the European Olive You program that aims to promote and develop the table olive sector.
The Regions of Attica, Central Greece and Central Macedonia also lent their support to the Greek participation. These are regions that are very active in the promotion of exports and help local companies to participate in important exhibitions abroad.
Specialty foods are the fastest-growing segment of the food industry with annual turnover of $150 billion, and the Fancy Food Show is the premier event for the sector. Greek food products are well positioned in this sector, and as Greek F&B exports continue to rise, we expect further growth in Greek specialty foods on the US market.
Among the visitors to the Greek pavilion were: the Regional Governor of Attica, Rena Dourou, the Central Macedonia Regional Governor, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, the Consul General of Greece in New York, Konstantinos Koutras, the Adviser to the Foreign Ministry, Georgios Michailidis and the Trade Counselor, Vassilios Liveris, of the Commercial Department of the Greek Consulate.
