Greece at 3rd CIIE

Athens, 12 November 2020, The Greek food and beverage companies that participated in the 3rd China International Import Exposition had the opportunity to meet Chinese importers and promote their products. The Exposition was held in Shanghai, 5-10 November 2020.

Enterprise Greece, aiming at strengthening the extroversion of Greek companies and the promotion of Greek exports, organised the national participation and offered to visitors an imaginary trip to the Greek land in a specially designed pavilion. The aim of the participation was to promote the country’s production potential focusing on the agri-food sector, since more than 100 Greek products were “introduced” to the Chinese market.

At the same time, Enterprise Greece, with the support of the General Consulate in Shanghai, organised a tasting event – Master Class – of Greek wines with the internationally renowned “wine educator”, Ms. Fongyee Walker MW. The event was attended by more than 60 wine importers, professional wine-tasters specialising in high quality wine-making, as well as journalists.

The China International Import Exposition (CIIE), just three years following its establishment in 2018, has become integral to international trade, investment promotion, cultural exchanges and the cooperation of China with foreign countries.

This year, it attracted more than 3,800 companies from 180 countries and regions of the world as exhibitors as well as more than 400,000 buyers. The total area of the exhibition has surpassed 360,000 square meters, an increase of 30,000 square meters compared to the 2nd CIIE, while the total number of visitors exceeded 600,000. During the exhibition, more than 100 promotional events were hosted either by countries or/and individual exhibitors. The value of the trade deals signed during the exhibition reached $72.6 billion.

The Executive Director and Member of the Board of Enterprise Greece, Ms. Betty Alexandropoulou, stated: “The Greek economy is oriented towards international markets, aims to increase trade between the two countries, attract foreign investments in many sectors and create added value in products, services and innovation. Our strategy focuses on harnessing this momentum, despite the current challenges. In this endeavour, China is a valuable partner. Greek-Chinese relations continue to strengthen every year. From joint diplomatic initiatives to cultural exchanges and the development of bilateral trade relations, the two countries work closely for the well-being of their people. Amid the global economic slowdown and growing trade protectionism, Greece and China offer mutually significant export and investment opportunities.
