Greece, UAE organize ‘Doing Business in Greece’ seminar to further bilateral relations

Athens, September 15, 2022 | Enterprise Greece, in collaboration with the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Greece, this month organized a special “Doing Business in Greece” seminar to showcase the excellent commercial ties between Greece and the UAE, highlighting the prospects for further bilateral trade, investment and cultural relations.
The event was held at the pavilion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at this year’s Thessaloniki International Fair, where the UAE is the honored country and attended with an official delegation of 50 representatives. The seminar focused specifically on prospects in selected sectors such as logistics, real estate, energy and tourism.
The event was attended by the Ambassador of the UAE in Greece H.E. Sulaiman Hamid Salem Al Mazroui; the Secretary General for International Affairs and Openness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of Enterprise Greece Ioannis Smyrlis; and Enterprise Greece CEO Marinos Giannopoulos.
Addressing the event, Mr. Smyrlis, referred to the friendship and strategic cooperation between the two countries, which continues to grow steadily in areas of investment, business and trade. He also referred to Emirati companies operating in Greece and Greek companies in the UAE respectively and stressed the great potential for cooperation between the business communities of the two countries. Concluding, Mr. Smyrlis, pointed out the special role of Enterprise Greece and Greek economic diplomacy: “to support entrepreneurship and create as many opportunities as possible for sustainable investments and trade.”
Mr. Giannopoulos said: “At Enterprise Greece, our mission is to showcase Greece as an investment destination and to promote the country’s highly competitive products and services to the global market.” Remarking on the strong relations between Greece and the UAE, he noted: “Our countries are getting closer because we share a common vision, based on stability and prosperity for all. We welcome every opportunity to further develop our trade relations as well as to further expand our relations, since there are still many opportunities to jointly explore.”
H.E. Sulaiman Almazroui emphasized the prospects for sustainable and long-term trade relations, bilateral investment and commercial agreements. He noted that the UAE Embassy in Greece aims to strengthen bilateral economic relations and facilitate contacts between businesses of the two countries, and that a strategic action plan has been developed, entitled Parthenonas, which aims to foster new areas of cooperation that meet the needs and goals of both countries.
