Greek delegation to Web Summit 2023- With the support of Enterprise Greece

Athens, 01 December 2023 | Enterprise Greece organized the national pavilion and together with the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBEA) and the Regional Development Fund of Attica supported the Greek delegation, consisting of 10 dynamic Greek start-ups, at the International Technology Conference “WEB SUMMIT”.
The conference was held in Lisbon from 13 to 16 November 2023 and brought together 70,236 participants from 153 countries, including 321 stakeholders (with booths), 906 investors, and 2,608 start-ups, from 93 countries and 30 different industries. The predominant sectors were SaaS, AI and machine learning, Healthtech and wellness, fintech and financial services, and sustainability and cleantech. Worth mentioning that, among founders, one in three was a woman.
During the Conference, 70 training seminars, 100 sessions with mentors, were held with 806 distinguished speakers from 50 countries (of which 38% of the speakers were women). At the same time, there were 1,180 meetings between investors & startups and 17 pitching sessions to determine the best company.
The Greek delegation was also attended by representatives of innovative entrepreneurship support bodies (accelerators, incubators), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Regional Development Fund of Attica, and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
During WEB SUMMIT 2023, Greek start-ups presented their innovative services, highlighting the power of Greek start-ups with the contribution of the Office of Economic & Commercial Affairs, the Greek delegation held meetings with representatives of institutions from Austria, Luxembourg, and Portugal, exploring possible synergies and future collaborations with different ecosystems. the Ambassador of Greece to Portugal, Mr. Vasilios Papadopoulos, PYA’ visited the Greek pavilion and had the chance to speak with representatives of Greek companies.
The Executive Director and member of the board of Enterprise Greece, Ms. Betty Alexandropoulou stated: “We are extremely proud of the dynamic participation of the Greek delegation with a national pavilion at WEB SUMMIT 2023, the leading event for technology startups, which is the meeting point for innovation companies and investment funds internationally. The contacts made with businesses and institutions gave Greek technology companies opportunities to access the most promising markets for their products and services. In addition, they created the conditions for partnerships that could have a significant impact on the evolution of goods and services worldwide. At Enterprise Greece, recognizing the importance of start-ups for the Greek economy, we will continue to plan and support actions that enhance the extroversion and networking of the Greek innovation ecosystem.”
