Greek Participation at Big 5 Dubai 2018

Athens, 28 November 2018| Greek companies are staging a strong presence at this year’s Big 5 Dubai trade fair, the Middle East’s leading building and construction exhibition, showcasing their products and services in the multi-trillion euro market.
The fair, which is being held 26-29 November, boasts more than 2,500 exhibitors from across the globe, representing more than 30 countries, and offering comprehensive solutions in the field of construction as well as innovative products. More than 70,000 visitors from 125 countries are expected.
The Greek national pavilion, organized by Enterprise Greece, is hosting 44 Greek companies in the fields of building materials, marble products, solar systems, aluminum systems, chemicals, insulating materials and paints. Also represented, like last year, were the regions of Attica and Central Greece, which are supporting the participation of their local businesses at the trade fair. The Greek delegation was the second biggest national delegation from Europe, behind Italy, according to exhibition organizers dmg events.
Enterprise Greece Chairman and CEO Grigoris Stergioulis spoke about the national effort to support the outward orientation of Greek companies reaching out to foreign markets: “Greece is opening new roads… this is a new Greece, one which is spreading its wings and staking its claim to a share of the giant world market, and with great success.”
With this year’s theme: “Shaping the Future of Construction”, the exhibition is featuring more than a hundred presentations and speeches, and recognizing innovative solutions. Of particular interest are innovations in the construction, cloud, hardware, robotics and 3D construction industries, as well as energy saving solutions. The fair, now in its 39th year, represents a focal point for the booming construction industry across the Middle East and Persian Gulf. In the six member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, 23,000 projects worth more than €2.3 trillion are now underway.
Ambassador of Greece to the United Arab Emirates Katerina Boura said: “The Greek presence in this exhibition is important because the sector is one where Greek companies have a comparative advantage in experience and know-how.”
Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the Minister of Finance and Industry of the U.A.E. opened the exhibition and was hosted in the Greek national stand by Mr. Stergioulis.
