The INDAGRA exhibition, organized by ROMEXPO in cooperation with the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is the largest and most comprehensive exhibition in the agricultural sector in Romania and the wider Balkan region. Enterprise Greece has always participated in this important exhibition, supporting the extroversion of Greek companies in the sector. This year’s event brought together hundreds of exhibitors from the agriculture, viticulture, horticulture, and livestock sectors, presenting the latest trends and innovations in the industry.
Ten (10) Greek companies participated in the Greek delegation and one (1) through its subsidiary in Romania, while two companies participated for the first time, presenting award-winning and innovative products with patents. Romania is a strategic market for Greek exports, with many Greek companies already present in the country through their subsidiaries.
In 2023, exports of agricultural machinery and equipment accounted for 4.3% of our total Greek exports to Romania, reaching €77 million. euro. Romania occupies the first place in the export list of the sector, followed by Bulgaria and Cyprus.
Agriculture is a key pillar of the Romanian economy, with 20% of the population employed in agricultural activities. The country has 2.9 million farmlandowners, who represent a third of the European Union’s farms.
At the same time, affordable land prices, high-quality soil, and low labor costs make Romania attractive for investments in equipment, agricultural machinery, irrigation systems and green technologies, greenhouses, and fertilizers.
During the exhibition, Greek companies had the pleasure of receiving a visit from the Ambassador of Greece to Romania, Mrs. Lili Evangelia Grammatika, and the Head of the Economic and Commercial Affairs Office in Bucharest, Mr. Konstantinos Dikaros.
