Athens, 20 January 2022 | Enterprise Greece, on the heels of the successful pilot program “Thriving in the Storm,” implemented in 2020, is launching an even more comprehensive 2022 program for supporting the internationalization and acceleration of Greek startups.

The 2022 program titled: “Thriving Global Silicon Valley Program” will be implemented in collaboration with USMAC (US Market Access Center) and experts from Silicon Valley. USMAC has been active since 1995, providing tech companies with rapid and successful access to the global market through Silicon Valley (www.usmarketaccess.com).

The new program will provide participating startups the opportunity to accelerate their growth, by bringing them in direct contact with prospective clients, strategic partners and investors from Silicon Valley. The program also offers seminars about the U.S. technology ecosystem.

The program consists of two phases:

Phase 1: Thriving in the Storm Boot Camp

• Participants: 18 companies

• Duration: 5 days (20 hours)

Goal: to inform the participants about the characteristics of the U.S. market, to help them understand the product changes they need to make in order to penetrate new foreign markets, and create a realistic timetable and plan for expansion into these markets.

Phase 2: Global Growth Acceleration

• Participants: 6 businesses (that have successfully completed the 1st phase)

• Duration: 4 months

Goal: each company will be mentored by a Silicon Valley industry specialist and will receive 25 hours of personalized guidance. Participating companies will also have the opportunity to conduct at least 10 B2B meetings and participate in a pitch event with potential investors. The last 2 weeks of the program take place in Silicon Valley.

The first phase of the program will start on 14 February 2022, when following an evaluation, 18 Greek businesses will be selected, out of which six (6) will have the opportunity to continue to the 2nd phase of the program.

The program addresses existing and new Greek startups that:

• Have a fully functional product or service.
• Have already made sales in the domestic market and want to promote their products & services in international markets with an emphasis on Silicon Valley.

The startups will be evaluated by the specialized USMAC associates Alfredo Coppola, Co-CEO, US Market Access Center, Co-founder, Marin Seed Ventures and Chris Burry, Co-CEO, US Market Access Center, Industry Fellow, UC Berkeley

• The selected startups will pay part of the cost of participating in the program.
• The program requires participants to have knowledge of English.

The program marks the strategic choice of Enterprise Greece to develop targeted tools to support the extroversion of Greek enterprises in the field of new technologies. The program is part of the strategic action plan of Enterprise Greece and seeks to leverage the know-how of the US market, and especially of Silicon Valley, to guide and advise Greek startups, with the ultimate goal of accessing international markets.

In the pilot program “Thriving in the Storm,” implemented last year, 12 startups participated: InAccel, Clio Muse, e-satisfaction, Exit Bee, JADBio – Gnosis Data Analysis, Logismos, Information Systems, Nimbata, Owiwi, Siepen, Prisma Electronics, Tekmon and Telenavis. Through the program, these companies had the opportunity to network with the Silicon Valley ecosystem and learn about strategies and tools that will ensure the successful penetration of their products & services into the global marketplace.
