Greek Wine Promotion to Japan

Enterprise Greece, with the support of the Attica Region, organized and carried out a visit of Japanese journalists to Athens to inform them about Attic vineyards and to promote Athens as a tourist destination.

Specifically, seven journalists from magazines focused on wine and gastronomy were hosted in Athens June 6-8 June, as well as from the Japanese Airlines (JAL) inflight magazine Agora.

Throughout their stay in Athens, the Japanese journalists sampled Greek cuisine and wines from varieties produced in Attic vineyards. They also participated in a training seminar on Attic varietals, accompanied by a wine tasting, which was organized in cooperation with the Greek Master of Wine, Mr. Konstantinos Lazarakis, in order to give our visitors a full experience of what the region offers.

To highlight the attractions of Athens as a tourist destination, the visiting journalists were taken on guided tours of archaeological sites and places of cultural interest.

The visit is part of a coordinated strategy, initiated by Enterprise Greece in 2015, for the promotion of Greek vineyards in the Japanese market, as well as part of the joint effort between Enterprise Greece and the Region of Attica to promote Attica’s local products and businesses in targeted markets.
