International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference- First participation of Enterprise Greece in the leading international conference

Athens, June 14th, 2024 | Enterprise Greece completed its participation in the International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference (IHIIC- IHIF Americas), which took place from June 2nd to June 4th, 2024 in New York.
This year’s conference, which is one of the leading industry conferences in North America, attracted over 2,100 participants and 400 investment companies. Enterprise Greece participated for the first time, aiming to brief the North American business community as well as attract new potential investors (lead generation). In this context, as part of the conference agenda, it organized the following Breakfast roundtable discussion dedicated to Greece: «Greece Hospitality: Investing in a Booming Market», which was attended by 25 industry representatives, a very satisfactory number for such presentations.
Speaking during the event, the representative of Enterprise Greece referred to the excellent prospects of Greece, the economic revival, the reforms that have been promoted to create a more attractive and friendly business and investment environment, as well as the country’s investment proposal in the hospitality sector.
The discussion was attended by representatives of international companies in the sector, including Messrs. Dimitris Manikis, President EMEA Europe/Middle East/Eurasia/Africa of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, and Maria Adamo, Director Global Development of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, who had the opportunity to discuss their reasons for choosing to operate in Greece, as well as the prospects that the country offers to international investors. The discussion was also attended by Ms. Laura Resco, Director – Hotel Intelligence Americas of HotStats, who provided data on the luxury hospitality sector in Greece.
The key issues discussed during the conference:
• Market recovery and investment opportunities: An important theme was the continued recovery of the hospitality industry following the pandemic, with a focus on strategic investments during the market shakeout, as well as the financial aspects of hospitality investments, including capital expenditures and demand diversification. Senior executives stressed the fact that market downturns often present prime opportunities for acquisitions and expansions, as evidenced by companies closing multiple deals during these periods; however, financing costs and maximizing returns remain among the existing challenges.
• Sustainability and ESG objectives: Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) factors were discussed at length, highlighting the increasing importance of sustainability in hospitality investments. Integrating ESG practices into business strategies is increasingly seen as a vital factor for long-term success and investor appeal.
• Technological developments: The conference highlighted the central role of technology in transforming hotel operations and improving the guest experience. Innovations in property management systems, contactless services, and data analytics were highlighted as key drivers for efficiency and guest satisfaction.
