International Hotel Investment Forum

State trade and investment promotion agency Enterprise Greece showcased the country’s investment potential at a special roundtable discussion on Greece at this year’s International Hotel Investment Forum in Germany. The roundtable drew the presence of more than 30 prospective investors and representatives of investment funds, as well as industry representatives from the hotel and construction industries worldwide.

The IHIF, held March 5-7 in Berlin, brings together international tourism representatives from around the world focusing specifically on investments in tourism. This year – the 21st edition of the IHIF — drew more than 2,000 participants from more than 80 countries to follow the forum.

In remarks to the roundtable, Enterprise Greece Director General for Investments Angela Michalopoulou informed participants about the latest developments in Greece’s economy and tourism sector, as well as the investment opportunities the country offers in tourism. Participants were also informed about the country’s Golden Visa program, as well as business matchmaking and other support services provided by the agency.

During the forum, Enterprise Greece officials held 25 business meetings with company representatives from Germany, Spain, China, France and the Netherlands, among others. Based on the meetings, investors showed particular interest in three segments of Greece’s tourism market, namely the luxury hotel segment, budget hotels, and investments in serviced apartments.

On the sidelines of the forum, Enterprise Greece officials also participated in the organizing committee for the Mediterranean Resort & Hotel Real Estate Forum (https://www.mrandh.com/), which will take place in Athens 17-19 Οctober 2018. Enterprise Greece is the country patron for the next Mediterranean forum, organized by the same company staging the IHIF and which is expected to draw a large complement of foreign investors and industry representatives focused on Mediterranean hotel and resort investments.
