Investing seminar, Amsterdam, The Netherlands- Enterprise Greece informs Greek companies on the prospects of wind energy developments in Greece

Athens, 07 March 2023 | Enterprise Greece in collaboration with the Netherlands Wind Energy Association (NWEA) and the Economic and Commercial Section of the Greek Embassy in the Hague, co-organized an investment seminar on Renewable Energy Sources in Amsterdam, entitled “Renewable Energy Business Opportunities in Greece” which was held on Wednesday March 1, 2023.
The investment Seminar was attended by representatives of 29 companies – members of NWEA, which develop and trade photovoltaic, offshore and onshore wind farm technologies and deal with the development and support of related projects.
HE the Ambassador of Greece in the Hague, Ms Caterina Ghini and the Vice-President of NWEA, Mr Bert van der Lingen addressed greetings to the seminar. Mr Nikos Stamou, Director of Investment Promotion for Energy, Environment & Services at Enterprise Greece, presented the developments and prospects for the growth of the renewable energy sector in Greece. Mr Evangelos Arvanitis, officer of the Strategic Investments Directorate of Enterprise Greece, referred to the contribution of RES in Strategic Investments.
” Greece emerges as a regional energy hub that attracts international investment interest due to the especially important, on a European scale, energy infrastructure projects that are already being implemented as well as those already underway in the country” was the main take-away for the participants of the seminar.
The contribution and value of wind and solar energy is very high, especially after the increase in energy prices due to the war in Ukraine. Greece has an advantage due to its geographical location and abundance of available natural resources. RES technologies were further utilized last year, taking advantage of the infrastructure already in place; thus, Greece managed to reduce the total cost of electricity production, in a period when the cost of electricity production through Natural Gas Units rose throughout Europe.
NWEA has more than 300 members throughout the Netherlands, among them, companies active in the entire spectrum of development, implementation, and support of wind farms, both onshore and offshore, while most of them have developed their operations internationally.
Regarding the importance of RES in the country, the Netherlands has a lead in the implementation of wind projects, especially offshore, recording 6GW of installed capacity in onshore wind and 4+GW in offshore.
