Kormarine Busan 2019

Athens, 30 October 2019 | Enterprise Greece, in collaboration with the Hellenic Maritime Equipment Manufacturers Association – HEMEXPO, organized for the third time Greek participation at the KORMARINE BUSAN 2019 international maritime equipment exhibition, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote Greek products to one of the world’s leading shipbuilding industries.

The trade fair, held 22-25 October at BEXCO exhibition center in Busan, South Korea, drew 25,000 visitors in the first two days, according to organizers, and hosted 1,115 companies from 63 countries and 14 national pavilions. The Greek pavilion, under the slogan: Smart Ship Solutions – Greek Marine Equipment, drew strong interest from visitors and showcased some of the most innovative companies in the industry.

The Greek companies participating were: Lalizas S.A. and HEMEXPO members: Erma First Engineering Solutions S.A., Environmental Protection Engineering S.A., Farad S.A. Heat Exchangers, Nanophos, Prisma Electronics S.A. and Seabright S.A. Representatives from the Greek companies held multiple business meetings with visitors, laying the foundations for future commercial agreements.

Busan is home to Korea’s 10 largest shipbuilding companies, some of which are among the largest in the world, while another 40 are located in neighboring areas. In 2018, 40% of worldwide ship orders were assigned to local shipyards. The KORMARINE international exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, the Marine Equipment Research Institute and the Korea Maritime Equipment Association, has now established itself as one of the largest international maritime equipment exhibitions in the world.

In a statement, Ioannis Arabatzis, Managing Director of Nanophos, and Dimitris Fanouriadis, Managing Director of Farad, members of the Board of Directors of HEMEXPO, stated that: “KORMARINE is the largest international shipbuilding and maritime equipment exhibition. Greek-made maritime products are innovative and of the highest quality, and are fit to support both Greek and international shipbuilding. Greek businesses have shown, once again, that with innovative ideas and perseverance, they can meet the exacting demands of South Korean shipyards. We believe that our participation further strengthened existing commercial relations between companies in the two countries, while we also are aiming for increased export volumes to South Korea. The management and executives of Enterprise Greece have been active and effective in their support of the Greek companies participating.”

Androklis Serelakis, Account Manager of Lalizas S.A. commented: “Kormarine for us is the largest shipbuilding and shipping exhibition in East Asia. It has given us the opportunity to develop partnerships in the Asian shipping market and especially with the South Korean shipbuilding industry, which is among the largest in the world.”

The Greek Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Ifigeneia Kontoleontos, announced the opening of the exhibition and, together with the Greek Embassy’s Economic and Trade Affairs Adviser to Seoul, Konstantinos Dikaros, visited the stand and talked with the members of the Greek delegation.
