Memorandum of Cooperation (MoU) signed by Enterprise Greece and the Hellenic Logistics Company
Athens, January 31, 2024 | A Memorandum of Cooperation (MoU) was signed on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, between the Hellenic Investment and Foreign Trade Company (Enterprise Greece) and the Hellenic Logistics Company (EEL), with the primary objective of supporting and promoting the Greek Supply Chain.
Enterprise Greece was represented by Mrs. Myra Myrogianni, the General Secretary of International Economic Relations and Outreach of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and President of the Board of Directors. Mr. Giannis Aloupis, the Vice President of Finance at the Hellenic Logistics Company, represented the company, standing in for its President, Dr. Basil Zeibekis. The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation was attended by Mr. Sotiris Anagnostopoulos, the Secretary General of Trade at the Ministry of Development, Mr. Thanasis Ziliaskopoulos, the President of the National Supply Council and the President of the Board of Directors of TAIPED, and Dr. Marinos Giannopoulos, the CEO of Enterprise Greece.
The main pillars upon which the upcoming cooperation will be based include:
• Promotion, visibility, and solutions for issues within the Supply Chain and Logistics sector in Greece.
• Formulation of proposals to Greek Authorities, the European Union, and International Organizations to improve the institutional and business environment.
• Representation in national, European, and international organizations, institutions, and legal entities with similar objectives.
• Cooperation with organizations in freight centers, logistics, ports, transport, and infrastructure to promote Greece as a transit center.
• Submission, execution, and management of development and innovative programs of Greece and the European Union relevant to the cooperation agreement.
• Organization of educational programs and events for the education and training of industry executives.
• Participation in actions to highlight and promote the Supply Chain.
• Organization of the participation of Greek companies in recognized international exhibitions of the sector (national stand).
• Formation and promotion of investment opportunities in specific projects by member companies of the Hellenic Logistics Company, aiming to attract investments to Greece.
• Publication of a magazine (print or electronic) or brochure and the development of a digital portal to promote the Greek supply chain, highlighting projects that could potentially attract new productive investments. In this context, mutual exchange and collection of information and data are agreed upon.
Welcoming the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Hellenic Logistics Company, Ms. Myra Myrogianni, the General Secretary of International Economic Relations and Outreach, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Enterprise Greece, emphasized the importance of the freight transport and supply chain industry for the Greek economy, ranking among the top five in the domestic market in terms of investment. Mrs. Myrogianni highlighted the sector’s utilization and promotion of Greece’s competitive advantages, including its unique geostrategic position, upgraded infrastructures, holistic institutional framework, the world’s strongest naval merchant fleet, and the development of logistics projects gradually turning it into a supply chain hub. She expressed the expectation that the cooperation between Enterprise Greece and the Hellenic Logistics Company would actively contribute to strengthening Greece’s position on the freight transport map, attracting new productive investments, and promoting exports and trade.
Upon the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation, Dr. Vassilios Zeibekis, the President of the Hellenic Logistics Company, pointed out the particularly crucial importance of the cooperation between the two bodies for supporting the supply chain sector and, concurrently, the Greek economy. He stated that the Hellenic Logistics Company (EEL) aims to contribute to the promotion of the services of the Greek Supply Chain as a National brand abroad substantially and practically, to attract international merchandise flows and multinational investment schemes.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Sotiris Anagnostopoulos, the Secretary General of Commerce, representing the Ministry of Development, which is responsible for coordinating actions related to the development of the supply chain in Greece. He recognized the significant importance of logistics services in Greece, emphasizing the international promotion of the country’s comparative advantages in the field of logistics. He also underlined the need for the formulation of a coherent national strategy for logistics, which should include the upgrading of transport infrastructures, further digitization of the sector, the conclusion of international partnerships, encouragement of synergies, and modernization of the transport fleet of companies operating in the industry.

In parallel with the upgrading of road axes, railway transport, and ports, as well as the creation of new business parks, Greek logistics acquires new strong growth prospects, strengthening internationally the added value of providing domestic supply chain services.”
