MFA, Enterprise Greece & ECIO’s 1st Joint Working Meeting

Athens, 12th March 2021 I The country’s economic diplomacy is further strengthened, after the reform of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that is currently being implemented, which brings Enterprise Greece and Export Credit Insurance Organization (ECIO) under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


The Secretary General for International Economic Relations and Openness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and President of Enterprise Greece, Mr. Ioannis Smyrlis, had on Thursday, March 11, 2021, the first joint working meeting with the Administrations of the supervised Organizations (Enterprise Greece and ECIO) falling under the General Secretariat for International Economic Relations and Openness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr. George Filiopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, and Mrs. Betty Alexandropoulou, Executive Director and Member of the Board, attended the first meeting along with Konstantinos Stampolas, and Grigorios Stamatopoulos, President and General Manager of ECIO respectively.

Enterprise Greece consists the evolution of the former “Invest in Greece SA” which incorporated the responsibilities of the “Hellenic Foreign Trade Organization SA (HEPO SA), leading to a new dynamic and innovative Organization of extroversion supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aiming to attract investment in Greece and to promote exports, showcasing Greece as an important strategic partner globally.

The Export Credit Insurance Organization (ECIO) provides credit insurance services, aiming to improve the competitiveness of Greek export companies.

During the meeting, Mr. Ioannis Smyrlis stressed the importance of good and constructive cooperation between Enterprise Greece and ECIO, as key operational arm of the economic diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aiming to provide high added value services and support to Greek exporters, businesses, as well as attracting investment.
