MR&H Top Mediterranean Resort Award 2018

The Mediterranean Resort & Hotel Real Estate Forum (MR&H) has announced the 2018 winners of the Top Mediterranean Resort Awards, established to recognize the top complex tourist resorts in the region.
Following an open vote that garnered a high-level of public participation, the following resorts were announced on September 21 as winners of the 2018 awards:
- • Grace Santorini: Winner of the Top Mediterranean Resort – in operation
- • Fouka Bay: Winner of the Top Mediterranean Resort – under development
At the announcement, Alexi Khajavi, Managing Director of EMEA Hospitality + Travel Group, Questex said: “Congratulations to Grace Santorini and Fouka Bay, two innovative destinations and excellent examples of top tourist resorts. We are excited about the increased interest in our awards this year, with an increase in both the number of nominations and the number of votes received compared to last year. Close cooperation with operators, developers and investors throughout this process has proven the dynamics in this real estate sector, so I look forward to welcoming the winners and all those involved in the field to our conference next month.”
“It is a great honor for us to receive this recognition from such a prestigious organization. Fouka Bay on the northern coast of Egypt is the result of the ambition of the Tatweer Misr group to create an outstanding luxury resort for families in the area,” said Ahmed Shalaby, Managing Director of Tatweer Misr. “For the various partner companies involved in this project, and for me, Fouka Bay is a very important project, representing a new approach that aims to create added value for both our visitors and our owners. Tatweer Misr continues to intensively develop other major complex tourist resorts in Egypt, including Il Monte Galala in Sokhna, which will open next year, and more recently Bloomfields in Cairo.”
Commenting on the results of the competition, Lena Lebanidou, Head of Europe at Grace Hotels, said: “We are thrilled that Grace Santorini was voted the Top Mediterranean Resort 2018. Achieving this distinction is testimony to the ongoing hard work of each colleague to create an unforgettable experience for our guests. We are extremely proud to see the hotel continue to shine in this very competitive market.”
The award ceremony will be held at a special event, at 13.45 (local time) on Friday, October 19, during the forthcoming MR&H Forum. MR&H is the only meeting place for complex tourist resorts, investment and hotel development in Mediterranean. Now in its fourth year, MR&H has established itself as a unique environment for business discussions, agreements and discovery of new business opportunities. The event will take place on 17-19 October 2018 at Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso, Athens.
The MR&H conference program offers a balanced approach between trend analysis, investment awareness and funding methods, along with practical discussions such as the appropriate structure for more efficient operation, and management of relationships in the development of complex tourism resorts. The program is posted and available for you to view here.
