PLMA 2019 Private Label Products Exhibition

Athens, 5 June 2019 | Greek exporters staged a strong showing at the 34th International Exhibition of Private Label Products PLMA 2019 in Amsterdam last month with almost three dozen leading Greek companies taking part and making more than 1,500 business contacts with visitors.

PLMA is the world’s largest and most important International Exhibition of Private Label Products and showcases the latest innovations in the fast growing private label market. According to the Private Label Manufacturer’s Association, private label products continue to see their market share expand and currently account for around 30% of products in 17 of the 20 European countries monitored by PLMA.

At this year’s exhibition, held May 21-22, the Greek national stand that was organized by Enterprise Greece hosted 34 leading exporters, mainly in the food and beverage industry, in a 520 square meter exhibition space featuring outstanding Greek food products. The strong interest of foreign buyers was apparent from the large number of business contacts made, each of which offer Greek exporters opportunities to enter new markets and expand their shelf space at the world’s largest retailers.

In order to better prepare Greek export companies for the PLMA exhibition, Enterprise Greece organized a workshop in Athens in early April. The workshop included remarks by PLMA Chairman Brian Sharoff, who spoke about trends and opportunities in the private label products market amid the ever-changing retail environment. The seminar was attended by some 80 Greek companies active in the fast growing sector.

Greece’s Economic and Trade Advisor to The Hague, Dimitrios Koutsis, visited the national stand and spoke extensively with the Greek exhibitors.
