Record Greek participation at MWC Barcelona 2023 tech trade fair

Athens, 24 February 2023 | Enterprise Greece is organizing the largest national participation to date at the international MWC Barcelona 2023 trade exhibition, in collaboration with the Hellenic Association of Innovative Applications Companies (SEKEE) and with the support of the Ministry of Digital Governance.

This is the tenth year that Greece is participating in MWC with a national pavilion. Over the past decade, the Greek tech industry has grown by leaps and bounds, and this year’s participation is the largest so far. Forty-three innovative Greek tech companies will be part of the national stand at MWC, held from 27 February to 2 March at the Fira Gran Via exhibition Center in Barcelona.

In the ten years of Greek participation in MWC, more than 300 Greek companies have had the opportunity to engage in networking opportunities at the fair, have expanded their business, and formed significant partnerships. MWC has substantially contributed to the international reach of leading Greek tech companies, and has provided a springboard for Greek startups to take the next step in their business development.

The Greek participation in MWC Barcelona has, in recent years, also been combined with a presence at 4YFN. Held simultaneously and one of the leading international events for tech startups, 4YFN provides a forum for startups, tech innovators and investment funds to meet. The MWC-4YFN combination has led to multiplier benefits in previous years for Greek participants, and expectations and predictions are similar for 2023.

Moreover, MWC also hosts one of the largest technology conferences during the exhibition, with the participation of industry leaders from major international tech companies and related industries. Under the banner: Velocity: Unleashing Tomorrow’s Technology – Today, the panels and keynote speeches of the conference are focused on upcoming global market trends.

The growing importance of the Greek tech and innovation sector is reflected in both public and private support for the industry. The national delegation at MWC Barcelona 2023 is actively supported by organizations including ECG-EUROBANK, the research & innovation hub Archimedes, the Center for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), the national startup registry Elevate Greece, the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), the Athens Business Incubator (THEA), HELEXPO BEYOND, NBG Seeds of the National Bank of Greece group, the Pleiades IoT Innovation Cluster, the iQnovus Innovation Center of Unisystems, as well as the Phaistos 5G VC fund.
Major companies like Samsung Electronics Hellas and Vantage Towers are also backing the Greek participation in MWC, in addition to the European PRAXI Network and the Hellenic Emerging Technologies Industry Association (HETIA).
