Record Greek participation in top Paris fashion and design fairs

Athens, 20 September 2023 | Greek designers and producers of fashion, jewelry and home furnishings turned out in record numbers at three of Europe’s top trade fairs for the creative industries earlier this month in Paris.

In total, 45 Greek companies producing fashion and jewelry − a 48% increase over last year − participated in the Who’s Next and BIJORHCA trade shows Sept. 2-4 at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center. Another 19 Greek companies participated in the Maison & Objet exhibition on interior design that was held Sept. 7-11 at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition center and which coincided with Paris Design Week.

Who’s Next is one of Europe’s biggest fashion trade fairs for women’s clothes, while BIJORHCA focuses on jewelry, watches, and related items. The two fairs together attracted 1,300 exhibitors and visitors from 126 nations. Maison & Objet is the primary gathering place in Paris, and throughout Europe, for companies involved in interior design. The expo drew about 60,000 visitors from 145 countries, with 2,539 exhibitors.

Enterprise Greece, and with the support of the Foreign Ministry, helped organize the national delegations to all three events. Visiting the national pavilion at Maison & Objet, Greek Ambassador to France Dimitris Zevelakis – in the company of Economic and Commercial Affairs Counsellor Marios Mathioudakis – made the following remarks. “The steady increase in the number of Greek exhibitors, compared with previous exhibitions, demonstrates the dynamic trend that has developed and is creating exciting prospects,” Amb. Zevelakis said. “It is important to sustain and expand this promising Greek presence at upcoming and related exhibitions, since a continuing presence is a precondition for company’s reputation and long-ern business partnerships.”

Betty Alexandropoulou, Executive Director and Executive Member of the Board of Directors of Enterprise Greece, stated: “The consumer products sector, including fashion, is one of the fastest growing pillars of the Greek economy, as well as one of the most competitive and extrovert sectors, having demonstrated remarkable resilience during the pandemic. It has continuously developed in the last few years, providing top quality and innovation. Companies in the sector are increasingly participating in international events and promotional activities. The Who’s Next & BIJORHCA fashion events, for example, saw a 48% increase in Greek participation compared to last year’s exhibitions.”
