Record Greek presence at GULFOOD 2020, the largest international food fair in the Middle East

Athens, 20 February 2020 | A record-setting seventy-five (75) Greek exporters participated in this month’s 25th GULFOOD 2020 exhibition in Dubai, the Middle East’s leading food and beverage trade fair, making more than 10,000 business contacts and reaching commercial agreements to expand their exports to the wider region.

Enterprise Greece, the national investment and trade promotion agency, organized the Greek pavilion to the fair, which included exhibitors from two of Greece’s leading agricultural regions and showcasing premium Greek products like table olives and rice.

The GULFOOD International Exhibition is held every year in Dubai, UAE, and attracts more than 100,000 visitors and some 5,000 exhibitors from around the world. As the Middle East’s largest F&B fair, this year’s exhibition, held Feb. 16 to 20, allowed Greek exhibitors to present quality Greek food products, and open new avenues for Greek exports, to a market of more than 500 million consumers.

Exporters participating with the support of the Epirus and Central Greece regions, as well as olive-producing companies participating through the European Promotion Program ‘Olive You’, had a strong presence at the fair. Also, the Agricultural Partnership of Thessaloniki (EASTH), which participated with the support of the ‘European Rice – Rice to the top’ trade promotion program.

The national participation was honored by the presence of the Secretary General for International Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gregory Dimitriadis, and the CEO of Enterprise Greece, Georgios Filiopoulos. Maria Kostopoulou, Head of the Hellenic Embassy’s Bureau of Trade and Economic Affairs in the UAE also visited the national pavilion at the exhibition.
