Renewable Energy Investment Webinar

Athens, 17 June 2020 | Enterprise Greece, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Greece in Toronto, held its second investment webinar on 10 June 2020 to showcase Greek investment prospects in renewable energy to Canadian business executives. The webinar focused on wind and photovoltaic technologies, where Greece has significant advantages for further development.
The webinar reviewed recent developments in the energy sector and why Greece is an attractive investment destination for the sector in general, and specifically for solar and wind energy projects. Participants were also briefed on the services provided to investors by Enterprise Greece.
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Enterprise Greece has launched a series of events for the remainder of 2020. The webinar is part of this program, which will present a number of targeted, digital initiatives focusing on specific sectors and markets.
Georgios Filiopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, said: “The energy sector in our country has shown unprecedented momentum in recent years, with a number of major natural gas and electricity related-projects highlighting Greece’s importance as an energy hub to the wider region of Southeast Europe and the Middle East. This is also been demonstrated by the growing interest of major investors from various regions around the world. Canada has long been an important target market for Greece in attracting quality and high value-added investment to various sectors of the Greek economy, including the fast growing renewable energy sector.”
Victor Maligoudis, Consul General of Greece in Toronto, said: “The webinar highlighted to an audience of select Canadian business executives the opportunities in Greece for investment in the field of renewable energy. We have had a lot of positive feedback on the presentations made. Above all, I am optimistic because of the successful cooperation between the Consulate General’s Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs and Enterprise Greece in promoting the commercial interest of the country and in attracting investment.”
Markos Katsimis, Deputy CEO of TERNA-USA, said: “The webinar emphasized the importance and growth of the energy sector for the Greek economy, as well as the role of TERNA Energy, which, as a leading wind power producer, has been implementing a multidimensional strategy these past few years, investing in different energy technologies, both in Greece and in selected foreign markets, such as the USA and Poland.”
