“SIL 2024 – INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS EXHIBITION”- Enterprise Greece at the top event for the Logistics industry

Athens, 25 June 2024 | Forty (40) b2b meetings of Enterprise Greece with international companies from the logistics industry took place in the framework of the international exhibition “SIL 2024” held in Barcelona from 5 to 6 June 2024. During the event, investment opportunities in the supply chain sector were discussed, as well as potential synergies between Greek and international companies in the field.

It was noted that investor interest in the Greek logistics market remains strong, due to the confidence in the Greek economy and also due to the upgrading of port and other infrastructure in the country. It was also pointed out that there is still – because of the coronavirus – a general increase in demand for storage of a plethora of products and goods, as online sales have skyrocketed, which has created new prospects in the market. The trends observed recently in the sector seem to focus on new technologies and systems, sectors in which Greece offers significant comparative advantages and incentives for the development of new investments.
It is worth noting that Greece ranks 19th in the World Bank’s logistics efficiency ranking, with the sector contributing 11.5% to GDP with a value of €23.8 billion and being the most important after tourism, with 5 out of 25 domestic ports being of strategic importance, while the development of the rail transport project and the new map of warehouses are expected to further raise the expectations.

The Salon Internacional de la logistica “SIL 2024” was organized by the Barcelona Free Zone Consortium and is a reference exhibition in the logistics, transportation, intralogistics, and supply chain sectors, while this year’s event was held for the 24th year. It was attended by 650 companies from 93 countries, representing a wide range of exhibitors. During the event, 180 innovations and specialized services in the fields of technology, transport, intralogistics, distribution services, etc. were presented, while a full program of conferences, round tables, and parallel activities was held where current challenges and emerging trends in the industry were highlighted.
